Introduction to the PHYTO brand

PHYTO hair logo

Founded in 1969, the French Phyto Group is a French hair care brand that provides unique solutions to different hair types and scalp problems, and is a manufacturer of plant-based hair products

When we look back at the history of these famous brands, we can see that almost all of them were related to some major medical discoveries, but the birth of PHYTO began when Patrick Ales discovered a hidden pantry in his 16th-century castle in the south of France. What kind of amazing discovery was that? Bottles of essential oils and some medicinal plants suddenly gave Ales a brilliant inspiration: combining his two lifelong passions – hair and plants.

AS A HAIRSTYLIST, ALES ACHIEVED ENVIABLE SUCCESS IN PARIS IN THE 50'S. He looks for the First Lady and many of the biggest names of the silver screen. At the same time, he experimented with different botanicals and essential oils to create a wide variety of natural hair care products. With the help of a holistic healer in Provence, ALES studied the medicinal properties of many plants. He was the first to refine the botanical ingredient with powerful healing properties, and used this extract to develop what would later be named after him, Huille D'Ales. Hair care oil. His treatments infused with precious ingredients such as rosemary, juniper, berry, lemon and castor oil effectively moisturize, protect and restore the color of the hair. And so PHYTO was born.

From 1956 to 1966, Ales released his first line of PHYTO products: Hair Cream No. 7, Hair Hair Gel Herbal Hair Straightening Gel and Hair Blossom Pauline Activating Oil. In 1969, Ales introduced PHYTO to the market, and at the same time, he also opened his salon in Paris. His clients can enjoy his care products in the salon for the first time. In 1986, PHYTO set foot on the continental United States.

Today, PHYTO continues half a century of research into natural plants and the brand's philosophy of goodness to nature: packaging is 100% recyclable. For 35 years, the PHYTOsolba laboratory in France has maintained a family-run model. If you're lucky, you might even catch Ales stomping outside his PHYTO greenhouse on the outskirts of Paris. The company's business remains true to Ales' motto: "There is no such thing as bad hair, only bad hair care." ”
