Founded in Switzerland in 1735, the world's top handmade mechanical watch brand, insisting on only making mechanical watches, is known as the "creator of classic timepieces"
Blancpain's rich tradition of innovation dates back to 1735 and is now recognized as the oldest surviving watch brand in the world. Its international fame has made it the only modern watch brand to hold this distinction in the prestigious watch gallery of the Palace Museum in Beijing. Since its inception in the town of Jura in the Swiss Villeret region, the brand's watchmakers have made a history of watchmaking by striving for innovation and perfection, producing timepieces of exceptional quality and ingenuity. Nearly 275 years of research and development have underpinned Blancpain's philosophy of innovation, based on a supreme respect for traditional watchmaking techniques.
In the mid-1980s, the company moved to Le Brassus, in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, and since then, the watchmakers of the Blancpain Manufacture have been reinterpreting the mysteries of the time-honored art of horology and have become custodians of Swiss culture and tradition.
Blancpain's watchmakers are highly skilled masters of miniaturization of mechanical movements, and they continue to develop their traditional craftsmanship in a spirit of innovation. Blancpain's watchmakers are committed to the future of mechanical watches, and they continue to achieve new feats such as the Carrousel Volant Une Minute launched in 2008. It was the first ever carrousel watch, and its remarkable feature was the placing of the balance wheel in the centre of the rotating cage.
Blancpain's slogan is "Only mechanical watches". Blancpain is the oldest surviving watch brand.
Blancpain – the world's most complex and versatile fully hand-mechanical watch.
Blancpain has not produced quartz watches since 1735, and this will remain the same until the end! Blancpain, the oldest surviving watchmaking brand, does not have an assembly factory, and the manufacturing process takes place entirely in old farmhouses, which are hand-set by individual watchmakers. To this day, each Blancpain timepiece is individually inspected, numbered and signed by the watchmaker, and its quality control is as strict as it was many years ago.
