Longines Longineslogo

Swatch Group-Longines Longines, founded in Switzerland in 1832, is a world-famous watch brand, with the flying wing hourglass as the logo, synonymous with exquisite watches, and a watch family integrating tradition/elegance/sport

Founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Longines (Compagnie des Montres Longines Francillon SA) is proud to have one of the oldest registered trademarks in the world. Longines is a pioneer in many technological innovations, particularly in the field of aviation and sports timekeeping, and continues to shine its elegance around the world.

Longines was the first to introduce electronic disconnection and automatic timing technology in sporting events, opening a new chapter in the history of world sport. Longines has also made remarkable achievements in the field of aviation chronographing, including the timekeeping of Charles Lindbergh's first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean without landing, a moment in history.

To this day, Longines remains at the forefront of technological innovation, creating each timepiece with a unique blend of precision and elegance. In equestrian, competitive gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, alpine skiing and the French Open, Longines has played a pivotal role in the history of contemporary sport. The brand, which is marked by the Hourglass of Flying Wings, is now present in more than 140 countries around the world.

In 1889, Francillon registered a patent for the manufacture of the Longines name and the winged hourglass pattern. Today, Longines is one of the oldest and most dynamic brands in all the international registrations of the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI). Since 1867, the watchmaking family has embraced the "winged hourglass" graphics and the "Longines" brand as symbols of exceptional quality, fighting against fakes that seek to profit from the excellence of Longines products.

Thanks to its accumulated know-how, Longines has gradually developed close ties with the world of sports, contributing its know-how to numerous sporting events, especially during the 20th century.
