In the fifties of the twentieth century, Professor Shen Fuwen's lacquer painting works and Professor Li Youxing's gouache painting teaching system became a model for learning from the arts and crafts disciplines in art colleges and universities across the country. In the 60s, the large-scale group sculpture "Rent Collection Courtyard" created by teachers and students of the Sculpture Department was hailed as "a revolution in the history of sculpture" in China; After the 70s, Professor Ye Yushan created the sculpture of "Mao Zedong Seated Statue" in Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall, the group sculpture of Songpan's "Red Army Long March Monument" created by Professor Ye Yushan, and the group sculpture of the monument in Chongqing Geyue Mountain Martyrs Cemetery; In the 80s, a large number of oil paintings reflecting local culture and scar art, represented by Luo Zhongli's oil painting "Father", had a wide and profound impact at home and abroad, and were hailed as milestones in the history of Chinese art. In the 90s, the theoretical research of contemporary art and art criticism sprung up in the school, forming the academic characteristics of the school's art history research and exerting a far-reaching influence in the art world. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the teachers and students of the school have created a large number of fine works of art in the innovative research of artistic language, which occupies a solid academic position in Chinese contemporary art. The teachers and students of the school's art design, industrial design, film and television animation, architecture and other majors have created good economic and social benefits for the development of local economic construction and creative industries in terms of corporate image strategic planning, brand building, product development, ecological design, urban construction, film and television animation creation, etc., and further expanded the social influence of the school and consolidated its academic status.
Talent Training:
In 1979, the university began to recruit graduate students, and in 1982, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved the university as the first batch of undergraduate bachelor's degree and graduate master's degree awarding units, as well as the authorization point of master's degree in fine arts and design. In 2006, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved the university as a first-level discipline authorization point for the master's degree in fine arts. In 2011, after the establishment of art as a discipline, the school obtained four first-level discipline master's degree authorization points in fine arts, design, art theory, and drama and film and television. In 2010, the school was granted the Master of Fine Arts Professional Degree Authorization Point. In 2014, the school was granted a degree in landscape architecture. At present, the school has a total of 22 undergraduate majors, including architecture, landscape architecture, drama, film and television art design, animation, film and television photography and production, fine arts, painting, sculpture, photography, Chinese painting, calligraphy, art design, visual communication design, environmental design, product design, clothing and apparel design, public art, arts and crafts, digital media art, art and technology, art education, and art history. There are 12 departments, including the Department of Chinese Painting, the Department of Oil Painting, the Department of Printmaking, the Department of Sculpture, the Department of Fine Arts, the Department of Art Education, the Department of Architectural Art, the Department of New Media Art, the School of Design Arts, the School of Handicraft Arts, the School of Film and Television Animation, and the School of Public Art. In recent years, nearly 90,000 undergraduate students have applied for various majors, and 7,012 undergraduate students have enrolled in various majors, accounting for about 90% of the total number of full-time students, and the employment rate of undergraduates has reached 96%.
The graduate education of the master's degree authorization point of the university is now open to academic graduate students in four first-level disciplines of fine arts, design, art theory, drama and film and television at home and abroad, as well as master's students in two professional degree categories, master of art and master of landscape architecture, with more than 700 graduate students and a graduate employment rate of nearly 100%. In addition, the school enrolls about 20 students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas students every year.

Campus Construction:
The school campus is divided into Huangjueping Campus and Huxi Campus, Huangjueping Old Campus is located at No. 108, Huangjueping Street, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, covering an area of 200 acres, which is a "garden-style campus" awarded by the municipal government.
