Communication University of China, referred to as China Transmission, is located in Beijing, the capital of China, a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China, and is a comprehensive research university listed in the National 211 Project, the 985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform, the "Everest Plan", "2011 Plan", "111 Plan" and "Thousand Talents Plan".

The university has 4 research institutes, 7 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 33 second-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 18 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 93 second-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 8 professional master's degree categories, and 6 postdoctoral mobile stations, covering 11 university disciplines such as journalism, literature, art, information and communication engineering, philosophy, economics, law, education, history, science, and management.

The predecessor of the school was the technical personnel training class of the Central Broadcasting Bureau of the Communist Party of China, which was founded in 1954. In April 1959, with the approval of the State Council, the school was upgraded to Beijing Broadcasting Institute. In August 2004, it was renamed Communication University of China. In 2011, it became a key construction university of the "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform". Since its establishment, the university has been committed to the cultivation of high-level talents and scientific research in the field of information and communication, and is known as the "cradle of China's radio and television and media talents".

The university hosts academic journals such as "Modern Communication", "Journal of Communication University of China" (Natural Science Edition), "Modern Publishing", "Contemporary Film", "Television Art", "Media", "Advertiser", etc., compiles and publishes "China Radio and Television Yearbook", "Consumer Behavior and Life Style Yearbook", "China Advertising Works Yearbook", and operates Communication University of China Press and Communication University of China Electronic Audio-visual Press. "News Vision", "New Times" (School of Journalism, Faculty of Journalism and Communication), "TV People" (Department of Television, School of Television and Journalism), "Media Engineering Students" (Reporter Group, School of Information Engineering), "China Communication Strategy".

As of 2013, the university has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 200 well-known foreign universities, scientific research and media institutions in more than 50 countries and regions on five continents. In 2009, the university initiated the establishment of the "International Alliance for Media Higher Education", and 49 well-known media universities from 21 countries and regions joined the "Alliance". The university is also a UNESCO Chair in Media and Women, and has established international academic research institutions such as the Asian Media Research Center and the European Media Research Center. High-level international academic conferences such as the Asia Media Forum, the World University Women Presidents Forum, and the China Communication Forum hosted by the university have become important platforms for exchanges between the international media and higher education circles.
