The Central Conservatory of Music, founded in Tianjin in 1940, is a key institution of the "211 Project" and represents the level of professional music education in China

The Central Conservatory of Music was established in 1949 by the merger of several music education institutions such as the National Conservatory of Music, which was established in 1940, and is an institution of higher learning that cultivates high-level professional musical talents, the only national key university among the national art colleges and the construction of the "211 Project". At present, there are the Department of Composition, the Department of Musicology, the Department of Conducting, the Department of Piano, the Department of Orchestra, the Department of Folk Music, the Department of Vocal Music and Opera, the School of Music Education, the Violin Production Research Center, the Band School, the Affiliated Secondary Music School, the School of Modern Distance Music Education, the School of Continuing Education and other teaching departments and the Institute of Musicology, a key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. At present, there are 1,543 undergraduate students and 663 graduate students. As a national music education center, music composition, performance and research center, and social music promotion center, the Central Conservatory of Music is a music institution that represents the level of professional music education in China, has a complete range of majors, and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.

Over the past 70 years, the school has established a strong faculty and teaching management team, and a number of experts and scholars with outstanding contributions have emerged in teaching, creation, performance and scientific research, attracting a large number of talented young musicians at home and abroad to study at the school, and cultivating tens of thousands of outstanding music talents and hundreds of foreign students, most of whom have become well-known composers, musicologists, music educators, music performance artists, Leaders and business backbones of cultural and artistic institutions.
