The predecessor of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts was the Lu Xun Art Academy founded in Yan'an in 1938, which was personally advocated by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other leaders of the older generation. Comrade Mao Zedong wrote the name of the college and the school motto of "nervous, serious, hardworking, and modest". In 1945, Yan'an Luyi moved to the Northeast. In 1958, it developed into Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. In 1998, Comrade Jiang Zemin wrote an inscription for the college: "Carry forward the tradition of Lu Yi, cultivate artistic talents, and prosper the socialist cultural undertakings." The long history of running a school has accumulated a profound cultural connotation and leading strength of the school.
After 78 years of development, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts has grown into a well-known higher art institution with strong faculty, complete majors, and a leading level and overall strength of similar colleges and universities in the country.
The college has two campuses in Shenyang and Dalian, the Shenyang campus is located in the political, economic and cultural center of Northeast China, and is located in the famous high-tech industrial street - Sanhao Street; The Dalian campus is located in the beautiful national scenic tourist resort area of Dalian's Golden Pebble Beach. The campus covers an area of 957,662.94 square meters, with a library construction area of 10,887 square meters, a collection of 592,073 books, and more than 3,000 pieces of authentic calligraphy and paintings, rubbings and cultural relics of the past dynasties, and a total construction area of 23,796.77 square meters for art galleries and art museums.
There are 12 teaching units in Shenyang Campus: School of Industrial Design, Department of Chinese Painting, Department of Printmaking, Department of Oil Painting, Department of Sculpture, Department of Photography, Department of Dyeing and Weaving Clothing Art Design, Department of Environmental Art Design, Department of Comprehensive Painting, Department of Art History and Theory, Department of Cultural Communication and Management, Art and Culture Research Center (Chinese Portrait Painting Studio); There are 10 majors: Chinese Painting, Calligraphy, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Film and Television Photography and Production, Environmental Design, Fashion and Apparel Design, Product Design, and Fine Arts.
There are 7 teaching units in Dalian Campus: School of Visual Communication Design, School of Media and Animation, Department of Arts and Crafts, Department of Digital Media Arts, Department of Professional Basic Education, Department of Public Basic Education, and Lumei? Culture International Fashion Institute (co-organized by China and Japan); There are 5 majors: Visual Communication Design, Animation, Arts and Crafts, Digital Media Arts, Fashion and Apparel Design (Fashion Design, Fashion Patternmaking).
All majors of the college have the right to confer master's degrees. The college has 3 first-level disciplines: fine arts, design, and art theory, and 14 undergraduate majors. Among them, the art and design major is the earliest traditional long-term major in China; The photography major is the first major in the country to train undergraduate and graduate students in photography; The painting major was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the fifth batch of characteristic major construction sites in colleges and universities in China; The sculpture major is a provincial-level characteristic major and a provincial-level teaching team; The animation major was rated as a characteristic major construction point of the Ministry of Education and a key support major in Liaoning; The Industrial Design Experimental Teaching Center is the only national industrial design experimental teaching demonstration center among similar colleges and universities in China. The Photography, Film and Television Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center was rated as a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center; The Printmaking Experimental Teaching Center was rated as a provincial experimental teaching center.
The college has a team of teachers with good quality, strong ability, and reasonable professional structure and professional title structure. The design discipline has made important contributions to the socio-economic and cultural development, and the major projects represented by the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Expansion Project have won wide acclaim from the society, and 35 of the major projects involved in the creation, design and construction have been listed as the national patriotism education base by the Central Propaganda Department, and our institute has been rated as the national college students' cultural quality education base by the Ministry of Education, the red classic art education demonstration base of colleges and universities, and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles as the Chinese literary and artistic public opinion information research base, and was approved by the Liaoning Provincial Government "Painting Talent Training and Training Base", "Industrial Product Design Talent Training and Training Base" and "Liaoning Province Talent Shortage Talent and Art Talent Training Base".

Founded in 1980, the journal "Meiyuan" (bimonthly) enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad, "Meiyuan" has won the national excellent social science newspaper, Chinese art core journal, Chinese periodical square matrix double-effect journal, Liaoning Province first-class journal and other honors, and has been rated as the national Chinese core journal for three consecutive times, and was included in the CSSCI Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (2014-2015) source journal extended edition in 2014. In 2016, Beauty Garden magazine will resume the title of Art Work.
