Founded in Switzerland in 1867, Nestle Nestle Mother and Baby Co., Ltd. is a leading supplier of maternal and infant health food and a world-renowned large-scale food and beverage multinational company
For more than 100 years, Nestlé has cared for generations of babies to grow up healthily. Today, 5,000 nutrition experts in 34 R&D centers around the world are committed to developing safe, high-quality nutritional products that interpret the real needs of your baby. The advanced R&D system has always kept Nestlé at the forefront of the field of maternal and child nutrition, helping parents to give more health and care to their babies.
In Europe in the mid-19th century, food production was generally small on a small scale. As living conditions changed – towns became larger, rail networks were extended, purchasing power was growing, and the food manufacturing industry began to see the light of day.
Although they knew that breast milk was the best nutritious food for their babies, European mothers were still in a dilemma: they wanted to use their own breast milk to feed their babies, but some realities made them choose synthetic nutritious foods instead of breast milk, and those indigestible animal milk, so that alternative foods often threatened the health of the baby, and even caused the death of the baby.
Ingenuity, resilience and maximum safety have become the foundations of the Nestlé brand, and Henri Nestlé, who is now 50 years old, is a manufacturer who likes to take on new challenges. In 1875, at the age of 61, Nestlé sold his personal company and created the "Société Farine Lactée Henri NESTLÉ", which continues to meet the needs of babies all over the world.
"Nestle" means "Little Bird's Nest", and this warm nest is not only the logo of Nestle, but also contains the philosophy that Nestle adheres to: caring, safety, nature and nutrition. "Baby's health, our commitment", Nestlé has listened to the voice of babies for 140 years, and guarded the healthy growth of generations of babies.
Nestle in China
Nestlé, headquartered in Switzerland, is one of the world's largest food companies. However, Nestlé also has a long history in China, where Chinese consumers have been familiar with and trusted the Nestlé brand for a century.
1908: Nestlé opens its first sales office in Shanghai. Nestlé was one of the first foreign companies to enter China and has a strong commitment to China.
1980: Nestlé began negotiations with the Chinese government to invest in China and bring its world-class know-how and expertise in nutrition and food processing to China.
1990: Nestlé's first joint venture plant in Chinese mainland begins operations, followed by several more factories. Nestlé has helped China save a lot of foreign exchange in this area by substituting imports by using local raw materials to make the same high-quality food locally. Ninety-nine percent of the products sold by Nestlé in Chinese mainland are now locally manufactured.
2001: Nestlé established the Shanghai Nestlé R&D Center in Shanghai. The R&D center is dedicated to applied science and nutrition research, and develops nutritious foods that Chinese consumers love and that are suitable for Chinese tastes and spending power.
2006: Nestlé's direct investment in Greater China from Switzerland reaches RMB 7 billion.
