Li Yue'er Ba School Park - Institutional Review

Located in Changping District, far away from the city, there are many parents in Beijing who rent houses in the neighborhood so that their children can study in the school.

Li Yue'er Ba Xueyuan was founded by children's educator Li Yue'er, and the name of Ba Xueyuan was inspired by the Ba Xueyuan in Japanese writer Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's "Little Beanie by the Window". Li Yue'er Ba School is different from the traditional kindergarten teaching mode, combining Montessori teaching and Waldorf teaching mode, and the mixed-age class model is also one of the characteristics of Ba Xueyuan. The Wangjing Campus of Ba Xueyuan has become a practice park for Tsinghua University to actively educate the application and research in the field of preschool education. The founder, Li Yueer, has also won the titles of "Top 100 Outstanding Early Childhood Education in China", "Top Ten Outstanding Figures in China's Private Early Childhood Education" and "Education Mulan Award" at the Sohu Education Festival for the establishment of Ba Xueyuan.

Ba Xueyuan adopts the mixed-age teaching model in Montessori teaching, with 7 to 8 teachers for 30 children in each mixed-age class, one class teacher, one deputy class teacher, and the rest are teaching assistants and life teachers. In mixed-age classes, the role of the teacher is to accompany the children when they encounter difficulties or need help, rather than the traditional mode of cramming.

In terms of teaching content, it is based on the most basic life skills and the changes of the four seasons, especially the life theme class, so that children can learn how to live. Drawing on the Waldorf teaching model, the children's activities are called work, and the facilities used by the children are tools or materials for work. Ba Xueyuan attaches great importance to the individualized training of children, and requires children to choose the content of work according to their own preferences, and with the assistance of classmates and teachers of different ages, to complete different work tasks. In this process, children's attention span and cross-age social skills are cultivated.

In order to combine the actual situation of domestic kindergarten to elementary school, the child will be promoted to the rainbow garden of Ba Xueyuan when he is 5 years old. In addition to retaining part of the Montessori teaching, the cultural classes include Chinese, mathematics and English, while the main subjects are still music, art, physical education, handicrafts, speech, reading and other courses.

Ba Xueyuan attaches great importance to the cultivation of children's independent ability and the adaptation of the environment. Ba Gakuen has a wilderness survival curriculum for older children, which is difficult to achieve in most kindergartens. The wild survival of Ba Xueyuan is the forest base for three days and two nights, and the course setting is much more challenging than ordinary hiking, which also requires parents to agree with the teaching philosophy of Ba Xueyuan. At the age of 1.5 to 3 years old, Ba Xueyuan has a separate parent-child garden, which is equipped with different contents such as cooking classes, story drama, color exploration, music, handicrafts, and parent classes, which helps to cultivate children's perceptual ability.

The environmental configuration of Ba Xueyuan is also an important reason to attract parents. All of the park's campuses are equipped with fresh air systems to provide fresh air, which is of great significance in Beijing, where smog is severe. The 2,800-square-meter indoor environment and 6 outdoor activity venues in the palace park include a sand field activity area, a plant water system area, a physical training area, a large tropical botanical garden and an outdoor plantation. The Ba Xueyuan's own forest base covers an area of 50 acres, the natural environment is combined with the outdoor field, and there are special male teachers for outdoor teaching, which can meet the development of children's physical fitness. In addition, Ba Xueyuan also leased three vegetable greenhouses in Xingshou Town, Changping District, covering an area of about 2,400 square meters, for the children in the park to eat.

The fees vary from park to park and for different ages, referring to Wangjing Park, the monthly tuition fee is about 7,500 yuan, while the shuttle bus fee is 700 yuan per month, and the meal fee is 23 yuan per day. Although Ba Xueyuan is not in the urban area, the geographical location is more remote, but the number of students far exceeds the number of students accepted by the park, and now Ba Xueyuan gives priority to admitting children from the parent-child park. If you want to study in Li Yue'er Ba School Park, it is best to start with the parent-child class. However, the teaching model of Li Yue'er Ba School Park respects the development of children's personality very much, and after entering primary school, some children need a period of time to adapt to the teaching mode of ordinary primary school.
