Daxingshan Temple-Institutional Reviews

As the oldest existing temple in Xi'an, Daxingshan Temple is also one of the "Eight Sects of Buddhism" of the Tantric ancestral court. Daxingshan Temple is located near the Xiaozhai business district, located on the side of the bustling street, which has a sense of being hidden in the city. Daxingshan Temple was founded in the first two years of Emperor Tai of Jin Dynasty (226 years), originally called "Zunshan Temple", and later became a royal temple in the Sui and Tang dynasties, renamed "Daxingshan Temple".

The bell and drum tower in the temple was built in the Ming Dynasty, it is the only bell and drum tower in Xi'an with the words of scripture seal engraved on the stone wall, and the status of Daxingshan Temple can be seen. The Maitreya Bodhisattva in the Guanyin Hall is the treasure of the town temple of the Great Xingshan Temple, it is the 36th year of the Kangxi Emperor to celebrate the birthday of his mother, offered by the living Buddha of Tibet, this is placed in the Guangyuan Temple, and it was transferred to the Great Xingshan Temple in the 60s of the 20th century. The thangka process is complex and takes many years. The cloth thangkas are enormous, hanging from the table to the beams of the roof and covering a wall. All the colors on the thangkas come from precious mineral pigments, which retain their vivid colors for a long time. Each of the Bodhisattvas on the picture is depicted in great detail, with large and small Buddha statues lifelike, and the most subtle folds of clothing are clearly recognizable.

Daxingshan Temple is the ancestral garden of "Tantric Buddhism", and the Daxiong Treasure Hall enshrines the Buddha of the five directions of the Tantric Vajra realm. The statues of the Five Buddhas are made using a complex process of rebirth: plastic clay tires, which are knocked open after drying, and then gilded layer by layer. In this way, the Buddha statue can maintain its mellow color for a long time and will last for a long time. The exhibition hall of the "Tantric Dharma Lineage Exhibition" in the temple collects all kinds of cultural relics related to Tantra, which is the context of the origin and development of Tantra, and a message written by Indian Prime Minister Modi when he visited the temple in 2015 is also treasured here.

The courtyard of the temple is quiet, and a wisteria in the courtyard has a history of 300 years, becoming more and more vigorous and powerful, and now it has become one of the important symbols of the temple. The two release pools in the courtyard each have a white marble carved dragon head, and the two dragon heads have the same shape, but they are not contemporaneous cultural relics. One is the cultural relics of the Tang Dynasty, close to the Tantric lineage exhibition hall; The other is an imitation of the Ming Dynasty. There are often white pigeons flying to the release pond to drink water and rest. The ancient hall behind the courtyard is hung with a plaque inscribed by Emperor Guangxu, and there are four words on it: "Enlightenment and Enlightenment". The word "group" is the most special, "Jun" is above, "sheep" is below, Jun is higher than sheep, which means "Ninety-Five".
