Xinjiang Flavor Restaurant has been open for more than 20 years and is regarded as the veteran of Xinjiang cuisine in Xi'an. In 2017, it was relocated from Andong Street to the southwest gate of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and the new store was quite magnificent, but the taste declined significantly, and it was difficult to bear the name of "time-honored brand". As the neighborhood is mainly residential, Xinjiang Restaurant is one of the few restaurants in the neighborhood that stands out from the crowd and is still attractive to diners.
The layout of the store is very clever. On the first floor, there is only a front desk, no seats, and desert murals are depicted all around, and the brushstrokes are simple and beautiful, and guests are brought into the "Western Regions Space" as soon as they enter the door. Stairs lead guests straight to the second floor, where large floor-to-ceiling windows come into view, and a huge Xinjiang tapestry hangs on one side of the wall. The wooden tables are staggered, and the space is not rigid, and the bright yellow of the glass lanterns and the sky blue embellishment of the seat cushions make the atmosphere more relaxed. The private rooms are named after Xinjiang cities such as "Aksu" and "Ataile", and the decoration is slightly different. On the whole, the details of the interior of the restaurant are highly ornamental, and the presentation of "Western Style" is better than that of old restaurants such as New Great Lake and Silk Road.
In terms of dishes, on the one hand, the decline in taste is due to the improper coordination of the back kitchen, and there are more people in the meal, such as large plates of chicken, pilaf, belt noodles, and baked buns, which are usually made in advance, and the guests place an order and serve them on the table after they are slightly heated, and the texture and taste are greatly reduced. On the other hand, because of the ingredients themselves, the mutton lacks aroma and has a strong fishy smell, and it is difficult to remedy it no matter how it is seasoned in the kitchen.
Therefore, avoid the above two minefields, order more cold dishes and hot dishes that are stir-fried immediately, and you can taste the level of Xinjiang-style restaurants in the past. For cold dishes, it is recommended to try the fragrant Xinjiang cold skin, the greasy artifact mixed vegetables, and the crispy salad ice grass; For hot dishes, we recommend a product of naan wrapped meat, spicy belly shreds, all kinds of seasonal fried vegetables, stone pot, and dry stir-fried series.
