The original buffet restaurant of Renaissance Wuhan Guangming Hotel was Renaissance Cafe, which was upgraded to "Burning Restaurant" in November 2017 due to its old inability to keep up with the needs of customers. The "upgrade" of the restaurant is more reflected in the decoration. Dark tones are the main one, with a large number of dark browns and blacks, and light brown wood floors, which weaken the dullness of the space and give it a touch of warmth. The combination of simple and clean line decoration and rustic texture makes the restaurant look stylish and modern in terms of decoration design.
Ran Restaurant specializes in seafood buffets, but there are very few varieties of seafood. At the beginning of the reopening, high-end ingredients such as French Girardo oysters, Japanese Kumamoto oysters, swan shells, and Australian green dragons were introduced, but they are now gone, and have been replaced with more affordable New Zealand oysters and ordinary mussels. The quality has shrunk, but the good thing is that the ingredients are fresh. Crab meat is fatty and tender, sweet and fresh, but the supply is often insufficient; New Zealand oysters are thick, juicy and delicious. If you don't like to eat oysters raw, you can also try the restaurant's charcoal-grilled oysters, but the grilled oysters are of poor quality and not fresh enough, so you need to use pickled minced garlic to cover the fishy smell. Boston lobster used to be a special meal in the restaurant, with a limit of half per person, but now it is often cut off, and many customers have complained about it. The same types of sashimi – salmon, tuna, octopus and dace – are freshly cut by sushi chefs and have few slices that will not please Japanese food lovers.
In addition to seafood, the restaurant has a smaller variety of Chinese and Western dishes. Western food with American barbecue holds up half the sky, grilled lamb chops and grilled steak are often a la carte dishes, because they are cooked to order, there are often long queues in front of the Ming stall. However, due to the excessive heat and high temperature of the bright file, the steak slices are thin, and the moisture of the steak itself is dried during frying, which makes the meat quality more woody. Lamb chops are less likely to be in such a situation due to their thickness, the gravy is still there, the taste is soft and not greasy, and the black pepper sauce covers the fishy flesh of the lamb chops, and the taste is acceptable. Although there are also Cantonese dim sum, oden and Chinese stir-fry, the standard is poor and the taste is average.
In addition to Western-style desserts such as tiramisu, cheesecake, mousse cake, etc., the dessert area also adds Hong Kong-style desserts such as poplar manna and fruit sago. The cake is small, delicate and delicious. The Napoleon cake has been praised by many people for its layered taste, crispy and creamy crust, and precise sweetness. The restaurant offers all-you-can-eat Häagen-Dazs ice cream, with a total of four flavours, with the exception of chocolate and vanilla, which are the fixed flavours, and the other two flavours change from time to time, which also adds a touch of surprise.
The service consciousness of the waiters at Ran Restaurant is not comparable to that of Hyatt, Ruihua or InterContinental. Although the waiters are gentle and attentive, they lack enthusiasm, close slowly, order inefficiently, and often delay after ordering. Despite this, Ran Restaurant is full every day with the affordable prices of group purchases and the credibility of a long-established hotel. The restaurant has a reservation system, so if you want to go to the restaurant, you need to make a reservation in advance to avoid overcrowding.
