Unico Coffee, located on the shore of Jinji Lake, is a new coffee and restaurant brand created by Suzhou Chuanxiang Restaurant Group in 2015. As a veteran catering company in Suzhou, Chuanxiang Group not only owns Unico Coffee, but also three restaurant chains: traditional Sichuan cuisine Bashu Chuanxiang, new Sichuan cuisine Bird Blue Restaurant and creative Western jaggery music restaurant, and its business territory spans Chinese and Western cuisine.
Unico is one of the largest and most distinctive cafes in Suzhou, with a café, a book bar, a flower shop and a bakery studio. The name "Unico" comes from the English word "Unicorn", which translates to unicorn, and the restaurant's logo is also recognizable with a pink unicorn pattern.
Unico has only 5 Brunch options to choose from, which is less than Wagas. The all-day English and multigrain Brunch belong to the platter series, the English style is a combination of scrambled eggs, toast and fennel, and the multigrain includes fried eggs, multigrain packets and cheese sausages, and there is not much difference overall. The flavor of the beef patty is similar to that of pizza pancakes, and the surface is covered with a super thick layer of cheese, which is creamy and crispy. Fruit muffins are actually waffles rather than American pancakes, waffles originate from Belgium and are lattice-shaped scones baked on a special baking sheet, with the same ingredients as muffins, but with a crispier texture than muffins. Bolognese pasta is considered to be useless, the meat sauce is sufficient, the pasta is strong, but the taste is also more popular. The five kinds of meals are not well-made, but the production is stable and basically does not hit the thunder.
Finish your meal with a cup of Unico pour-over coffee. There are currently two types of coffee beans in the store, Yirgacheffe and Mandheling, which are only lightly roasted with a hint of lemon and citrus fruitiness; Mandheling is deeply roasted, mellow in the mouth, and solid in taste. In the summer, you can also try iced drip coffee, which is also made with the lively and bright flavor of Yirgacheffe, which is extracted and fermented for 6-8 hours, and the aroma is obvious in the mouth, but iced caffeine requires a longer extraction time and is available in limited quantities per day. In addition, Unico's afternoon tea desserts are also famous, such as durian chocolate, green chihiro, and blueberry vanilla cakes, all of which are freshly made every day, and the shape is small and exquisite.
At present, Unico Coffee has only one store in downtown Suzhou, and another branch is located in Suzhou Bay, Taihu Lake. The Moonlight Wharf store has two floors, and the dining area on the first floor is all occupied by greenery and flowers, and the sunlight in the early morning shines through the large floor-to-ceiling windows to drop mottled shadows on the ground, exuding freshness everywhere. The leisure area on the second floor is equipped with a book bar, a large and small box, a flower room and a baking experience room, each area has a different decoration, and the combination of elegant, classical and bright styles here is as if entering a parallel time and space. The service staff is careful and thoughtful, and will take the initiative to ask if they need to introduce the dishes, receive the seat, refill the water, respond in a timely manner, and have a good understanding of all kinds of dishes. What is a slight disadvantage is that the store has a large flow of customers all year round, and the dining atmosphere is relatively noisy.
