Shanghai Jing'an District No. 1 Central Primary School - Institutional Review

Shanghai Jing'an District No. 1 Central Primary School (hereinafter referred to as "Jing'an No. 1 Center") is recognized as the third among the "three major public primary schools" in Jing'an District. Like the primary school attached to the first teacher, it was founded by Mr. Chen Heqin, a famous educator in modern times, and has a history of nearly 90 years.

Jing'an No. 1 Center is located near the Central Hospital of Jing'an District, the school covers an area of nearly 8,000 square meters, with a construction area of more than 9,000 square meters. As of 2017, there are 88 full-time teachers in Jing'an No. 1 Center, including 1 special-grade teacher, 4 district subject leaders, 55.7% of middle and senior teachers, and a teacher-student ratio of 1:12.

The concept of "Modern Little Citizen Education" is a well-known moral education brand of Jing'an No. 1 Center, which is an extension of the concept of "Little Citizen Education" proposed by the former principal of the school in the 90s of the last century. The specific form of the concept course is "Ten Experiential Activities Course for Modern Little Citizens", and its "playground-style" teaching characteristics are unique among the city's public primary schools. The school has set up more than 20 activity rooms for the course, each with a different theme, including "Five Grains Dojo", "Tous Luck Kitchen", "Maker Workshop" and "Energy Station".

At the "Five Grains Dojo", students can learn about various vegetables and daily recipes through a simulated vegetable field. The "Tole Kitchen" provides a venue for students to learn various cooking skills, and students can prepare a variety of dishes to entertain "guests" while providing "star service" to guests. The "Maker Workshop" is equipped with mechanical equipment such as grinders, lathes, milling machines, and sawing machines, and students can use the equipment under the guidance of teachers to simply process and transform the items around them, and use their imagination by themselves. Finally, each student has a point diary, and they earn medals through their performance in class and on the job, and go to the "Energy Station" to exchange prizes.

Although Jing'an No. 1 Center is a primary school with a good reputation, its counterpart junior high school is not ideal. Its counterpart, Peiming Middle School, is considered by many parents to be the worst junior high school in Jing'an. From the moment their children enter school, parents are planning how to pass the junior high school exam. Therefore, the school pays more attention to the students' extracurricular competition results, but the Jing'an No. 1 Center is not bloody, and the pressure on students to go to junior high school mainly comes from parents. Most of the students in Jing'an No. 1 Center can be admitted to good junior high schools such as Shixi, Qiyi, Jingjiao, and Jingwai. If you want to be admitted to a private junior high school, many parents recommend learning Olympiad mathematics from an off-campus training institution starting from the second grade.

The counterpart neighborhood committees of Jing'an No. 1 Center (2017) include Jingyuan, Youyi Village, Beijing (west of Xikang Road), Sanyifang (east of Jiaozhou Road) and Yeqing (south of Wuding Road). The conditions for self-occupation in the school district are acceptable, and Haojingyuan and Jing'an Fengjingyuan are two relatively good communities, with an average price of about 130,000 yuan per square meter in June 2018. The nearby old and small ones are represented by another village in Jing'an, with an average price of about 10 per square million.
