Delight Food-Belgian Brasserie Belgian Restaurant - Merchant Reviews

Delight Food Belgian Restaurant is located on Shanghai's "Lao Wai Street", where restaurants from more than a dozen Chinese and foreign countries gather, full of European style, making people feel like they are in a small "United Nations". And Delight Food is the Belgian representative of this "United Nations". As the first Belgian restaurant in Shanghai, Delight Food opened in 2009 and is the "big brother" of exotic restaurants in Lao Wai Street.

The owner and chef has lived in Belgium for eight years and has a passion for authentic Belgian cuisine. At Delight Food, diners can enjoy specialties such as flavored seafood and Belgian barbecue, as well as the food culture of this western European coastal country.

The restaurant's signature seafood dish is Belgian-style mussels. There are eight cooking flavors to choose from, including white wine, tomato cream, Belgian beer, and garlic cream, and the price is 158 yuan each. The mussels are large and fresh, and the flesh is fresh and plump, and a full pot is served with a 1 kilogram portion. After lifting the lid, the corresponding fragrance comes to the nose, and the lid is turned over to fill the shell, which is very convenient. The garlic cream flavor and original flavor are more in line with the taste of Chinese people. It is worth mentioning that the small pot with mussels was specially shipped from Belgium by the owner, which is enough to reflect the restaurant's intentions and sincerity.

The waffle is one of Belgium's greatest inventions. Authentic Belgian waffles with bubbles in the check, extra chewy. For dessert, the waffles are served with ice cream and chocolate sauces, both from Belgium. Freshly baked waffles are dipped in cold vanilla ice cream, and the combination of cold and hot textures is very tempting; Belgian chocolate sauce has a silky texture with a fragrant bitter taste, which can temper the sweetness of the frosting on the waffle, and is suitable for diners who are not too sweet to dip. If you don't order "Belgian fries" at a Belgian restaurant, you won't know how to eat, so don't forget to order a French fries at the restaurant. But don't be deceived by the word French, this is the name of the local fries after the Americans came to Belgium in World War II, and it actually has little to do with France, only because the Belgians speak more French that the Americans are called French fries. The fries are thick and plump, fried until golden brown and crispy, and are eaten with mayonnaise and tomato sauce, which is considered by Belgians to be a disappointing french fries.

The restaurant also offers a wide range of meat staples, such as fried sausages with chives and Thuringian sausages and mashed potatoes, Belgian beef stewed with beer, mushroom chicken in the Belgian royal milk bath, Leuven honey grilled ribs, and grilled classes with butter, lemon juice and fries.

The restaurant is located on a tree-lined street, with a fountain sculpture of a child peeing into a wine bottle at the door. This "peeing boy", also known as Xiaolian, is the city symbol of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Delight Food has reproduced the Belgian icon "Peeing Boy" in Shanghai, so that people can feel the strong Belgian atmosphere of the restaurant before they even enter the door. The restaurant has a two-story dining area on the first floor, two floors, and outdoor alfresco dining tables. The restaurant's Smurfs hats, illustrations from The Adventures of Tintin, and an entire beer wall on the second floor all showcase the rich and varied Belgian culture. The owner of the restaurant is hospitable, soft-spoken and considerate, and patiently introduces the dishes and shows the restaurant's special décor to diners, giving a very friendly and good impression.
