The PGA (Project of Global Access) high school curriculum class of the Second High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University is set up for students who are interested in studying abroad, which is approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, recorded by the Ministry of Education, and cooperated with Ergo Inti High School in Washington, D.C. The PGA high school curriculum class builds a diversified and international education environment to achieve seamless connection with university studies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and other countries. More than 90% of the teachers of the International Department of Beijing Normal University have master's and doctoral degrees, and graduated from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Chinese People's University, Beijing Normal University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of California, Berkeley and other well-known universities at home and abroad. The development of teachers in the school adheres to the goal of "four haves and four abilities", that is, they have educational feelings, professional foundation, international vision, innovative spirit, can develop courses, can be bilingual teaching, can guide scientific research, and can lead planning. The PGA academic curriculum consists of the National Curriculum, the GAC International Curriculum, Exam Preparation Courses, AP Courses, and Top-notch Innovation Courses. The curriculum is implemented in three levels, highlighting diversity, practicality and selectivity. The national curriculum and international curriculum cultivate students' national cultural heritage, consolidate students' knowledge base, and cultivate students' critical thinking and cross-cultural communication skills. AP courses stimulate students' learning potential, develop academic expertise, and establish a college professional direction. The university has established student scientific research bases in universities such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and hired professors in related fields as scientific research mentors for students, so as to cultivate students' knowledge application, academic inquiry and scientific research exploration ability through top-notch innovative courses.

 

Guided by the "Core Literacy of Chinese Student Development" issued by the Ministry of Education, the PGA high school curriculum class has created a comprehensive practical curriculum from three aspects: cultural foundation, independent development, and social participation. Through educational activities, themed class meetings, independent clubs, volunteer services, cultural studies, etc., comprehensive practical courses are constructed to promote the development of students' self-awareness, enhance the awareness of cooperation and exchange, cultivate the spirit of innovation and practice, enhance the sense of social responsibility, deepen humanistic cultivation, expand international vision, and cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor.

 

High school is a critical period for the formation of students' personalities and their independent development. In order to meet the personalized growth needs of students, the PGA high school curriculum class continues to create a unique "career planning education system". Since 2008, the International Department has implemented a school-based career curriculum system covering the three years of high school, and the first to third years of high school are taught according to modular content.
