The school ecology of the High School Affiliated to Peking University has always been popularized, and the four colleges, eight colleges and three centers have built a diversified campus system, which makes the High School Affiliated to Peking University quite avant-garde. The four colleges include Xingzhi College, Yuanpei College, Liberal Arts College and Dalton College, of which Dalton College is a Sino-foreign cooperative program, focusing on bilingual and bicultural general education courses, with the goal of overseas study, so many people directly call it the International Department of Peking University High School.
The annual enrollment scale of Dalton College of Peking University High School is stable at 60 students, only for Beijing and nine types of candidates, and the tuition fee is 100,000 yuan/academic year. Compared with the scores of other colleges affiliated to Peking University, Dalton College is relatively "close to the people", with a score of 542 in 2018, 545 in 2017, 550 in 2016, and 540 in 2015, all of which are 6 points lower than other colleges.
The curriculum adopted by Dalton College is neither IBDP, nor A-Level or AP, but a self-developed course of the High School Affiliated to Peking University. Students are faced with subjects such as English Language and Literature, Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Sciences, Art, and Physical Education. In addition to these regular courses, students are required to complete an Experiential Learning Project (ELP) and an Independent Research Project (IRP) to earn the appropriate credits. Held twice a year, the "Carp Week" is an interdisciplinary, project-based program organized around a specific theme to help students make connections and participate in discussions between different disciplines.
The High School Affiliated to Peking University is one of the first middle schools in China to implement the class system, and advocates that students choose their own courses on the premise of completing international compulsory courses. There is no fixed class for students, only a dedicated tutor follows the high school for three years, and each tutor is responsible for 10-15 students.
All students were gathered together in a scrambled manner, regardless of grade, gender, or college, and the academy was formed. The college is also a student community, which is managed by the students themselves, and all activities outside of teaching are carried out by the college, such as the four traditional college competitions every year: football matches, basketball games, dance festivals, and drama festivals.
In 2018, Dalton College received a total of 4 letters from Brown University, in addition to Vanderbilt University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of California, Berkeley and other institutions. In 2017, 66% of the students of Dalton College of Peking University High School entered the top 50 universities in the United States, and in 2016, 60% of the students entered the top 50 universities in the United States. Judging from the results of further education in the past three years, the water stability of Dalton College of the High School Affiliated to Peking University ranks in the second echelon.
