The Olympic Park is a large-scale comprehensive area with sports, culture, leisure, conference, commercial and residential functions. It has a total area of more than 11 square kilometers, starting from Beitucheng Road in the south to the south bank of the Qing River in the north, and the area between Anli Road and Beichen East Road in the east and Lincui Road and Beichen West Road in the west can be included in the scope of the Olympic Park.
The reason why the Olympic Park is famous is naturally because it was the site of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The Bird's Nest, the Water Cube, the International Sports Center, the Olympic Sports Center Stadium and other 10 Olympic competition venues have left a presence in the history of this world-renowned sports event, and in the past ten years, countless Chinese and foreign tourists still come here to visit and take a commemorative occasion. In addition, there are 7 non-competition venues such as the Olympic Tower, the Olympic Main Press Center, and the International Broadcasting Center, as well as buildings such as the Beiding Niangniang Temple, the Chinese Sinology Center, and the China Science and Technology Museum.
The National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, is located in the heart of the Olympic Games and is known for its architectural appearance that resembles a bird's nest woven from tree branches. The Bird's Nest was the main stadium of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, track and field competitions and football finals of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. Today, the Bird's Nest has become a multi-functional place integrating scenic spots, sports, entertainment and art performances. The Bird's Nest covers a total area of 21 hectares, there are 91,000 in the museum, the bird's nest shape is simple and friendly from the outside, novel and spectacular, highly recognizable, many tourists come here to take pictures for the Bird's Nest.
Opposite the Bird's Nest is naturally the National Aquatics Center, or Water Cube. The Water Cube was also one of the main venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, mainly for water sports such as diving and swimming. The exterior shape of the Water Cube is also very special, first of all, it is a square venue, inspired by the "round sky" in traditional Chinese culture, which corresponds to the bird's nest opposite. The most eye-catching thing about the Water Cube is the membrane structure outside the wall, which makes the appearance of the Water Cube present an artistic effect of a combination of cells or soap bubbles, which looks like a huge blue water tank from a distance, which is very interesting, and it is a favorite of cold color lovers to turn on the lights at night. Of course, the reason for this design is not only for appearance considerations, the membrane structure of this ETFE material has good light transmittance, self-cleaning, heat insulation and compression resistance, which is a model of energy-saving and environmentally friendly buildings, which shows the good intentions and outstanding talents of the designers and architectural team.
Today, the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube are one of the landmark buildings in Beijing and one of the must-see attractions when visiting Beijing. For most visitors, it is enough to just be outside and admire the beauty of the two buildings. However, the two venues have become attractions open to the public after the competition, if you are particularly stylish friends after buying tickets, you can enter the Bird's Nest to visit the interior, with the explanation, in the Olympic media area, torch square, air sightseeing corridor to leave their own figures, feel the Olympic grand occasion of the year. The Water Cube is even more functional: water parks, spas and themed bars are all frequented by nearby Beijing water lovers.
In addition, there is an Olympic Forest Park with an area of about 6.18 square kilometers in the northern part of the Olympic Park. Most of the tourists are concentrated in the central area, and the park is not too crowded, so it is very pleasant to walk in the park. The park has a large lake and vegetation, as well as plenty of rest areas. In addition, it is a good place to see the bird's nest at the highest point of the park, "Heaven", and to admire the 80-meter-high Okumi Fountain.
