After more than 100 years of development, GE has become the world's largest diversified service company in the fields of capital, energy, finance and healthcare, and has been ranked first in the "America's Most Admired Companies" by Fortune magazine for three consecutive years. According to the survey, 173 of the Fortune 500 companies have CEOs from General Electric, which was once hailed as "a symbol of American business".
 
As one of the three giants of lighting, GE and Philips led the global lighting market alternately from 2006 to 2015, and in 2006-2008 and 2015, GE's lighting business revenue was more than 8 billion euros, ranking first in the world.
 
However, GE has since misjudged the direction of the power market and repeatedly made mistakes in the energy sector, so it has to streamline its business, exit the less profitable transportation, lighting, power grid and financial businesses, and focus its core business on more profitable areas such as aviation, medical and power. The lighting business currently accounts for only 2% of GE's total revenue, which is insignificant for GE's sheer size, making it one of the first businesses to streamline.
 
In August 2016, GE announced that it would terminate its operations in Asia and plan to sell its consumer lighting business, although no buyer has yet been identified. Judging from GE's official follow-up statement, GE has not completely abandoned the LED lighting market, and the termination of business in Asia is not completely withdrawn from the Chinese market, and may retain 3-4 cooperative customers in China.
 
In the field of production, GE, like other foreign companies, adopts the OEM model, and the products sold in China are mainly produced by Xiamen Tongshida, but GE Lighting is relatively niche in the Chinese market, accounting for only about 10% of GE's global lighting business. GE currently sells 4 light source products, which are not particularly outstanding in terms of parameters, and the bulb LED is basically a level 3 energy consumption standard, which is slightly inferior to Philips and Osram, but the average price of medium and high-power LEDs is 8-10 yuan/watt is much higher than that of similar products of Philips and Osram, and the cost performance is not high, which may be the main reason why GE lighting products are relatively niche.
 
In addition to the traditional bulbs, there are also column-type and petal-shaped LED products, which are not available to Philips and Osram, which are more personalized and can play a good decorative role, and are more suitable for lamps and lanterns with exposed lamps.
 
GE petal LED bulbs are divided into two models: 9W and 12W, which are already relatively powerful in LED bulbs, so they are more suitable for lighting of 10-15 square meters. Among them, the 9W model only has a warm color temperature of 3000K, which is suitable for use in the bedroom, while the 12W model has two color temperatures of 5000K and 6500K, which are more suitable for living room and study lighting, although these two color temperatures are white light, but compared to 5000K, it is closer to sunlight, and 6500K may be too dazzling for some users, so the 5000K color temperature model is more recommended.
 
However, in terms of price, petal-type LED bulbs 9W, 12W 5000K, 12W 6500K are 90/107/77 yuan, much higher than other brands, relatively cost-effective, in addition, the type of LED bulb cover is frosted glass, rather than common acrylic material, theoretically speaking, the light transmission performance will be better, but the drop resistance is undoubtedly weaker.
 
The low-power LED bulb can choose the traditional shape of the bulb energy-saving LED lamp, the model has a total of 3W/5W/7W/10W optional, the price ranges from 13-43 yuan, in the GE LED light product line is a cost-effective model, but compared with other brands is still high. GE bulb energy-saving LED lamps only have a cool color temperature, a color rendering index of 80, and a luminous effect of 63-80lm/W, which is a three-level energy consumption product, slightly lower than the petal-type LED bulb, and the overall is decent, but it is not lost, and can be used as an alternative light source, but it should be noted that the 3W version (94101) is measured to be more serious strobe, please try to avoid it.
