For this reason, OSRAM has always presented itself to the world as one of the three giants in the field of general lighting, and has presented the world with the impression of being a general lighting company.
 
However, this may not be the case, according to statistics, 50% of OSRAM's revenue comes from automotive lighting, which has the largest market share; 35% of the revenue comes from mobile terminal devices, the top two in the market, and only 15% of the revenue comes from the general lighting market. Opto Semiconductor (OS) is the core division of OSRAM, with considerable resources and a long-standing position in the LED component market.
 
In the field of lighting, due to the expiration of traditional lighting patents and the sudden rise of Chinese LED manufacturers, profits have been getting lower and lower, and this business is already the relatively "least leading" business of Osram, so Osram is also seeking transformation. In the first half of 2018, OSRAM acquired four companies in one go: BAG Electronics, Vixar, Fluence Bioengineering and Motorleaf, and comprehensively deployed in emerging markets such as horticultural lighting and semiconductor components.
 
The lighting business, including traditional light sources such as LED lamps, fluorescent lamps and gas discharge lamps, was officially split into LEDVANCE Lighting Co., Ltd. by Osram in July 2016, and was acquired by the Chinese manufacturer MLS for 400 million euros the following year.
 
According to the acquisition agreement, MLS will pay a brand licensing fee of between 1 million and 2 million euros over the next 10 years to obtain the trademark rights of Osram and its North American sub-brand SYLVANIA, but OSRAM does not sell patents, only licenses them, and MLS can develop products on the basis of the original patents. In other words, LEDVANCE's products will continue to use the Osram and Hiwannian brand trademarks, and for consumers, everything will remain the same, except for the change in the controlling shareholder.
 
For the spin-off LEDVANCE, the existing light source business is still the foundation, although there may be a situation in the future where LEDVANCE and OSRAM dual brands stand side by side, but for the time being, the OSRAM brand is still the main force, so the LED light source products are quite complete. Mainly bulb and candle bulb type products, from the current products on sale, there are the use of SMD LED star series and the use of LED filament retro series, the greater the general power, the higher the price, the unit price of the bulb is roughly 2-3 yuan / watt.

Compared with bulb products, the light efficiency of OSRAM candle bulb LED lights is slightly lower, and it can only reach the third-level energy consumption standard, so it will consume more electricity, and there is only a 2700K warm white color temperature version, so the choice is not so rich.
