Yamaha is currently the world's largest manufacturer of musical instruments and the number one piano manufacturer in Japan. Yamaha founder Yamaha began to produce organs in 1887 and upright pianos in 1900, and in the past 100 years, Yamaha has been involved in more and more fields, including motorcycles, golf, etc., but the music division is still the top priority. In 1991, Yamaha produced 5 million pianos, and in 2008, it acquired the German piano manufacturer Bösendorfer. At the 16th Chopard International Piano Competition, Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva won the first prize with Yamaha CFX, the first time in the history of the Chopard International Piano Competition that a Japanese piano player has won the prize.
Yamaha's pianos are produced at three factories, including those in China, Indonesia, and Japan. One of the most recommended is the U series, which is also Yamaha's most classic and best-selling consumer piano series. According to the height and performance of the piano, the U series is divided into U1, U2 (discontinued), U3, U5 (discontinued), UX, the larger the number, the higher the height of the piano, such as: U1 is 121cm, U3 is 131cm, U5 is based on U3, the material selection is more fine. Later, the UX series of pianos was also launched, most of the structure of this piano is close to the grand piano, the back is in the shape of a rice shape, it is the upright piano with the closest timbre to the grand piano, but for the upright piano, the cost of the UX series is too high, so it has been discontinued for many years.
At present, the main models of the U series are U1 and U3, and there are also models with mute system and automatic performance system, U1PE is the lowest and most cost-effective model, with a price of about 73,000 yuan, and U3PE is about 85,000 yuan. The current U1 is very different from the previous U1, the tone of the previous generations of U1 is particularly "Yamaha", that is, it is particularly crisp and bright, but now, the U1 has increased the strength of the castanets, plus the improvement of the back post and other main structures, further improving the solidity, resonance saturation and structural stability, richer timbre, and better resonance.
