Aviation Science and Technology Corporation of China (AVIC) was incorporated in Beijing, China on April 30, 2003. On October 30, 2003, AVIC was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The major shareholders are Aviation Industry Corporation of China, AVIC Electromechanical Systems Co., Ltd., European Aerospace Defence Group (EADS) (now renamed Airbus Group), China Huarong Asset Management Co., Ltd., China Cinda Asset Management Co., Ltd., and China Orient Asset Management Co., Ltd. AVIC's total assets (as of the end of 2016) were 69.5 billion yuan, with a total share capital of 5.966 billion shares and 2.356 billion H shares. Airbus Group is a strategic partner of AVIC, holding 4.61% of the total shares of AVIC.
AVIC's main aviation products include various types of helicopters, trainer aircraft, general aircraft aviation parts, avionics products and accessories. Helicopters are: Z-8 series, Z-9 series, Z-11 series, H425, HC120. Cooperated with Airbus Helicopters to produce EC120 series helicopters, jointly produced CA109 series helicopters with Italian company August, and cooperated with Sikorsky Company of the United States to produce S-92 series helicopter parts. AVIC is also a leading manufacturer of trainer aircraft and general aircraft in China.
The products are: L-15 advanced training aircraft, K-8 series training aircraft, CJ-6 primary training aircraft, Y-12 series transport aircraft and N-5 agricultural and forestry aircraft. The main R&D and production bases are in Harbin, Nanchang and Jingdezhen. AVIC has extensive cooperation with world-class aviation product manufacturers, and has a joint venture with Embraer to produce the Legacy series of business jets, and a joint venture project with Airbus: Airbus A320 series aircraft Tianjin final assembly line project (with a total of 20% equity); Harbin Hafei Airbus Composite Materials Manufacturing Center Co., Ltd. (AVIC has a total of 20% equity).
