Airbus is an industry-leading aircraft manufacturer. The company's customer-centric philosophy, business knowledge, technological leadership and manufacturing efficiency make it at the forefront of the industry. With a turnover of almost 30 billion euros in 2010, Airbus is now firmly in control of about half of the world's civil aircraft orders.
Airbus is headquartered in Toulouse, France, and is owned by the European Aerospace Defence Group. Airbus is a global company with around 54,000 employees worldwide, wholly owned subsidiaries in the USA, China, Japan and the Middle East, spare parts centers in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Washington, Beijing and Singapore, training centers in Toulouse, Miami, Hamburg and Beijing, and more than 150 on-site service offices around the world. Airbus also has established industry collaborations and partnerships with major global companies, with a network of around 1,500 suppliers in 30 countries.
Airbus' modern integrated production line consists of highly successful series of aircraft (from 107 to 525 seats): the single-aisle A320 family (A318/A319/A320/A321), the wide-body A300/A310 family, the long-range wide-body A330/A340 family, the new long-haul medium-capacity A350 widebody family, and the ultra-long-haul double-deck A380 family. Airbus has sold more than 9,800 aircraft, has more than 300 customers/operators, and has delivered more than 6,700 aircraft since it first entered service in 1974.
Airbus China
China introduced its first Airbus aircraft in 1985. In 1994, Airbus China Co., Ltd. was established and an office was set up in Beijing. For more than 20 years, Airbus has provided advanced Airbus products to Chinese customers, and to date, the number of Airbus aircraft in service in Chinese mainland has exceeded 400. At the same time, Airbus has put forward the long-term development goal of establishing a comprehensive partnership with China, and actively carries out industrial cooperation and technology transfer with China's aviation manufacturing industry.
Airbus has also established a comprehensive and centralized after-sales service system, with customer service and technical support service stations in 20 cities in China, and in 1997 it spent $80 million to establish a state-of-the-art training and support center in Beijing. In July 2005, Airbus (Beijing) Engineering Technology Center was officially opened in Beijing. On June 28, 2007, Airbus and the Chinese consortium officially signed a joint venture contract for the Airbus A320 series assembly line in Tianjin. Under the contract, Airbus holds a 51% stake in the joint venture, while the Chinese consortium holds a 49% stake. On September 28, 2008, the Airbus Tianjin assembly line was officially put into operation. On June 23, 2009, the first aircraft of the Airbus Tianjin final assembly line was delivered to the customer.
