In 1955, when Song Qingling, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, visited Yunnan Paper Cigarette Factory, the predecessor of Hongyun Group, during a state visit to Southeast Asia. Vice Chairman Song said that Yunnan has unique and superior conditions for the development of the tobacco industry, and has abundant high-quality cigarette raw materials, so it should produce more and better high-quality cigarettes, create more wealth for the country and the people, and let Yunnan tobacco go all over the world! The words full of anticipation gave great encouragement to the employees of the whole factory. To this end, Yunnan Cigarette Factory has stepped up the research and development of new products, equipped with special personnel, and accelerated the pace of product development and trial production.
At the beginning of 1958, after research, the factory proposed to catch up with and surpass the British "Oleic" brand cigarettes. After five months of hard work day and night, hundreds of large and small tests, we finally developed a high-standard, high-quality new product. This is the crystallization of the joint efforts of all employees of Yunnan Paper Cigarette Factory, and it is also the first and only Grade A tobacco manufactured by a single formula of Yunnan tobacco leaves in the country, and it is the representative brand of Yunnan Tobacco. After dizzy consideration and repeated research, this package of products, which represented the highest R&D and production level of Yunnan cigarettes at that time, was finally named "Yunyan".
On July 1, 1958, "Yunyan" was officially put into production. So far, the land of Yunnan has finally produced domestic high-quality cigarettes that can compete with foreign tobacco. Since the establishment of the brand, in the course of more than 50 years of development, "Yunyan" has become a famous brand of China's national industry with more than 100 national, provincial and ministerial honors, which is deeply loved by consumers and can be described as a household name.
