Founded in 1976, the French natural plant skin care brand is an international retail enterprise specializing in the manufacture and sale of personal care products and household products
THE STORY OF L'OCCITANE L'OCCITANE, BEGUN IN 1976, IS ROOTED IN THE HIGHLANDS OF PROVENCE... This hideaway in the south of France, sandwiched between the Alps and the Mediterranean, is the birthplace of L'OCCITANE founder Olivier Baussan. For more than 30 years, the beautiful fields of Provence, together with the local traditions and techniques, have been the secret and inspiration for his beauty products. To this day, all L'OCCITANE L'Occitane products are still developed and produced in the small town of Manosque in Provence.
L'OCCITANE draws inspiration from the Mediterranean art de vivre and the traditional techniques of Provence to create healthy and comfortable natural beauty products that pamper the body and mind. The results of serendipitous discoveries and explorations provide the brand with nutrients to thrive and develop. We continue to develop pure and natural products, and we choose to work with suppliers who meet the highest quality standards. Behind all the products, there is often a real story that is closely related to the land of Provence: such as ancient distillation techniques (essential oils), AOC quality guarantees (lavender, olives), forgotten traditional farming (almonds), and a sustainable development program in Burkina Faso, Africa (shea butter).
Since the very beginning of the company, L'OCCITANE has taken social responsibility very seriously, and the company's aims and objectives are based entirely on the brand's philosophy: respect for others, care for the environment, and promote communication and sharing. IN 1989, L'OCCITANE CROSSED THE MEDITERRANEAN TO LAUNCH A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SHEA BUTTER IN BURKINA FASO, AFRICA, AND IN 1997, L'OCCITANE PIONEERED THE PRINTING OF BRAILLE ON PACKAGING FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED. IN 2006, L'OCCITANE LAUNCHED THE FIRST LARGE-SCALE ORGANIC HELICHRYSUM CULTIVATION PROGRAMME IN CORSICA TO PROTECT THE ECOSICA SCRUBLAND.
Founded in 2006, the L'OCCITANE Foundation carries forward the spirit of the brand and has three key missions: to support the education and support of women in developing countries; eradicating illiteracy and caring for the visually impaired; Finally, it is necessary to save endangered traditional farming practices.
