Kipling was founded in 1987 in Antwerp, Belgium. It was born out of a significant decision – when three positive and optimistic Belgians decided it was time to make a change and get people out of traditional handbags! Inspired by their travels around the world, the Three Musketeers designed and developed the first generation of the Kipling bag, which opened a new page in the history of the bag.

Antwerp, Belgium, is the fashion capital of the pursuit of more extreme design. Kipling was born here and has been living with this spirit since the beginning, proudly telling the world that it is from Antwerp and that it will call the world home. From Europe to the Americas, from Asia to Africa, Kipling has sold its own brand of bags in 67 countries around the world, becoming Belgium's fashion brand for global exports.

Kipling's name comes from the designer's favorite Nobel Prize winner in literature, the English writer Rudyard Kipling; And the iconic little monkey that appears on every Kipling handbag, backpack or suitcase is the character of the author's most famous book, The Jungle Book (published in 1894).
