Beijing Hanhai Auction Co., Ltd., formerly known as Beijing Hanhai Art Auction Company, was established in January 1994, is approved by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, approved and registered by the administrative department for industry and commerce, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage is the first batch of large-scale comprehensive auction companies approved to auction first, second and third class cultural relics.
Hanhai Company is one of the earliest auction companies established in China, mainly engaged in the auction of cultural relics and artworks, aiming to promote the Chinese national culture and improve the status and influence of Chinese artworks in the world through auction activities; It provides a high-level and high-quality cultural exchange space for collectors and institutions at home and abroad.
For more than ten years, Hanhai Company has adhered to the principle of "operating according to law and reputation first", and has been widely recognized by all walks of life with its strong talent advantages, rigorous examination attitude, superb lot quality and smooth customer network.
So far, Hanhai has held more than 100 large and medium-sized art auctions, with a total of more than 130,000 pieces, covering Chinese paintings and calligraphy, ancient books and inscriptions, oil paintings and sculptures, ceramics and jade carvings, bamboo and wood tooth corners, gold and bronze Buddha statues, wood furniture, contemporary handicrafts, etc. The total turnover exceeded 23 billion yuan, and the turnover rate reached more than 70%, of which the proportion of excellent cultural relics and artworks exceeded 30%, and the first- and second-class cultural relics and treasures recognized by the state accounted for about 10%.
With the vigorous development and diversified demand of the domestic art market, Hanhai has opened up special sales with continuous innovation, and took the lead in launching highly professional auction projects such as calligraphy, study, jade, snuff bottles, gold and bronze Buddha statues, contemporary handicrafts, etc., making positive contributions to refining the aesthetic vision and guiding the special collection.
In recent years, Hanhai has collected channels to the world, built an international art trading platform with great reputation, and promoted the return of overseas cultural relics in high quantities. So far, more than 30 special auctions for overseas collectors have been successfully held, covering Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and other places.
Since the Palace Museum in Beijing took the lead in bidding for and collecting the handscroll of Zhang Xian's "Ten Songs" of the Northern Song Dynasty at the 1995 autumn auction in Hanhai for 19.8 million yuan, many important cultural relics have been collected by the Palace Museum in Beijing, the National Museum of China, the Beijing Library, the Capital Museum of Beijing, the Beijing Museum of Printing, the Poly Art Museum, the Peking University Library, various corporate museums, private museums and collectors' personal collections. In the spring auction of 2004, "Lu Yanshao Du Fu's Poetic Hundred Folios" was purchased by the Enterprise Museum at a price of 69.3 million yuan, setting a world record for Chinese calligraphy and painting auctions at that time. In the spring auction of 2006, Xu Beihong's "Yugong Moves Mountains", which returned from overseas, was won by domestic institutions at a price of 33 million yuan, setting a record for the highest domestic oil painting auction at that time. In the spring auction of 2007, the "Qing Qianlong Pastel Ji Blue Gold Flower Vase", which had been adrift overseas for more than 100 years, was purchased by a private museum in China at a transaction price of 24.08 million yuan. In the autumn auction of 2008, the statue of the Central Plains region returned from overseas "Ming Dynasty Bronze Gilded Protector God Standing Statue" was won by a domestic collector for 25.76 million yuan. In November 2009, at the 15th anniversary celebration auction of Hanhai, "Qing Qianlong Blue and White Seawater Red Color Dragon Pattern Ruyi Ear Gourd Bottle" was sold for 83.44 million yuan, setting the highest record for porcelain auctions in China.
While focusing on enhancing the value and status of Chinese artworks, Hanhai Company is actively committed to cultural inheritance, poverty alleviation and other public welfare undertakings, and has participated in charity auctions and various public welfare activities for many times, assuming the social responsibility of promoting Chinese culture and promoting research exchanges.
From November 10th to 29th, 2009, two public welfare high-end exhibitions undertaken by Hanhai Company: "Prosperous Weather - High-end Exhibition of Cultural Relics Collection of Important Collectors on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait" and "Bao Wutang - Important Calligraphy and Painting Collection Exhibition of Overseas Chinese" were successfully held in the Capital Museum. The exhibition is the first joint event of the collection circles on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, which provides an important value reference for domestic private collections, and also provides a good opportunity for exchanges and discussions between cultural relics circles at home and abroad.
Hanhai Company is currently the executive director unit of China Auction Industry Association, the vice chairman unit of the Art Professional Committee of China Auction Industry Association, and the vice president unit of Beijing Auction Industry Association.
Since 2002, Hanhai Company has been awarded the highest qualification of "AAA" auction enterprise in the industry by China Auction Industry Association, and "trustworthy enterprise" recognized by Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce.
Hanhai Company has also been commended by governments and management departments at all levels for many times: in 2000, it was awarded the title of "Model Collective" by Beijing Municipal People's Government; He has been awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Taxpayer" by the State Taxation Department for many times.
