Although Xiaoli's lo noodle restaurant is far less well-known than the other noodle restaurants on the list, this noodle restaurant hidden in the Zhonglou community is very popular with local diners and is also very famous among Xi'an lo noodle restaurants. Since the restaurant opened in 1997, the taste of lo mein has remained the same for 21 years.

Xi'an lo mein is different from handmade noodles in that they are steamed from thin noodles pressed by a machine, which are slender and light. After the noodles are steamed, put them into a bowl, scoop a spoonful of braised pork, cowpeas, cauliflower, etc. into the bowl, and finally add a spoonful of oil and spicy seeds on top, and a bowl of steamed lo noodles is done. The noodles are thin and soft, with the aroma of marinade and oil and spicy seeds. The fatty meat strips are fried and then marinated, and the fat becomes Q-elastic, reducing the greasy feeling. Cowpeas, potatoes and other vegetables are blanched in oil, and they are taken out for later use before they are fully cooked, so as to prevent the vegetables from becoming soft and rotten when they are ripe, which affects the taste, and secondly, when stir-frying in the pot, they are dipped in lard to add a lot of flavor to the vegetables. The vegetables have a refreshing taste in the lo mein and retain their flavor in the mouth. Thin noodles are not as filling as handmade noodles, so it is recommended that guests order an omelette when ordering. The shop offers free egg drop soup, but the taste is rather bland.

The store is small, so there are two or three tables outside the store. The steamer rumbles outside the store, and customers go to the in-store operation room to order, choose the side dishes, and then serve them themselves. The hostess Xiaoli is easy-going and welcoming, with a good attitude. Lo mein is not outstanding in the noodle city of Xi'an, and it is not as strong as Biangbiang noodles and oily noodles, so it is not the first choice for tourists or even local diners. Although the lo mein does not look amazing, it is better because of the refreshing taste. If you are tired of eating handmade noodles with a strong noodle flavor, you can come here for a change of taste.
