The predecessor of Changsha Ecological Zoo is Changsha Zoo, which has a history of more than 50 years. In 2010, the Changsha Zoo was closed, and all animals were moved to the Changsha Ecological Zoo in Duyun Town, Changsha County. A few months later, the Changsha Ecological Zoo was officially opened to the public. The park covers an area of 1,500 acres and has more than 300 species of animals. The zoo is designed according to the standards of world-renowned zoos, and is divided into functional areas such as herbivory area, animal area, popular science education area, ecological landscape area, and leisure and entertainment area.
The main attractions in the zoo are the car shop beast area, the car shop herb feeding area, the giant panda hall, the crocodile hall, the primate area, the bird paradise, the reptile hall, and the elephant hall. To put it simply, tourist tours are divided into two areas – the car and foot areas. The car tour area corresponds to the car shop beast area and the car shop herb feeding area, and visitors can sit on the park car to watch the lions, tigers, leopards and other fierce beasts up close, and the happy sheep, deer and horses. In the pedestrian tour area, visitors can walk to it. Although the park provides battery cars for an additional fee, it is not very practical for visitors who want to explore the whole park. Because the entire walking tour area is in the shape of a ring, the adjacent attractions are not far away, so it is more convenient to walk. If you want to visit the entire zoo in one day, it is recommended that you enter the zoo in the morning.
The beast area of the car shop uses a pulse power grid to isolate the beasts, so the beasts are "safe and sound". Visitors get on the bus at the bus stop and the bus departs when it is full, and the tour lasts about 30 minutes. As soon as you enter the predator area, apex predators like the Bengal tiger will follow you, as if you have found a delicious delicacy. Visitors can see the predator's prey up close, which is very exciting.
Compared to the predator area, the animals in the herbivorous area are undoubtedly much more docile. It is divided into alpine herbivorous areas, African herbivorous areas, and Asian herbivorous areas. In the alpine herbivorous area, there are mainly national first-class protected animals, such as rock sheep, golden takin, etc. The terrain of the African herbivorous area is relatively flat, restoring the magnificence of the African savannah, such as the common ostriches and zebras in Africa. The Asian herbivorous area is a collection of herbivores from Eurasia such as sika deer and red deer. Probably accustomed to the "big scene", these social herbivores seem strange to the arrival of "uninvited guests" such as tourists.
Visitors can get off the bus and start the walking tour. The Giant Panda Pavilion is a popular venue in the pedestrian area, covering an area of 370 square meters. If you want to get closer to the giant panda, a national treasure, it is recommended to go to the long bridge that shuttles through the outdoor playground, and the cute state of the giant panda seems to be within reach. The most popular is the Bird Paradise, where visitors can see chirping parrots at the entrance. These parrots are not afraid of life and interact frequently with visitors. The Bird Paradise is surrounded by mountains, with colorful birds and a strong ecological atmosphere.
It should be reminded that the activity of animals in the park tends to be at its lowest in summer and winter. Many animals will just hide somewhere to rest, and visitors may not be able to see all the animals, which will slightly affect the park experience.
