Hunan No. 1 Normal College can be traced back to the Chengnan Academy established in the 31st year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1161), and the academy was renamed Hunan Normal Hall in 1903, so it is known as "a thousand-year-old school, a century-old teacher". Hunan No. 1 Normal has produced many historical figures, and the most famous is Mao Zedong, the main founder of the People's Republic of China. He studied and worked here for 8 years, and left the evaluation of "the first teacher is a good school" and the nomination of "the first teacher", which made the school even more famous. For tourists who like to visit the attractions of the Red Revolution, the First Normal is definitely not to be missed.

It should be pointed out that Hunan No. 1 Normal has two campuses, namely Chengnan Campus and Dongfanghong Campus. The latter is a new campus, and only the Chengnan campus, located on Shuyuan Road in Tianxin District, is where Mao Zedong once studied. In addition, due to the Wenxi fire in 1938, the original buildings have been destroyed, and only the well where Mao Zedong brought cold water for bathing has been preserved. The main body of the current building was rebuilt from 1966 to 1968, and it reproduces the 8th class classroom, the 8th class dormitory, the school auditorium, the workers' night school and other attractions in Mao Zedong's student days. These buildings all have obvious characteristics of the era, and the quality of the photos is quite good.

The most popular class 8 classroom has a very attention-grabbing table because of the sign that says "Mao Zedong Seat". Many tourists have come here to take pictures to commemorate the occasion, resulting in obvious paint loss on the tables and chairs compared with the surrounding tables and chairs. Nowadays, tourists are no longer allowed to enter the eighth class classroom in principle, so it is almost impossible to sit in this seat and take pictures. The scenic spot is equipped with a WeChat public account to explain each exhibition hall, and there are even volunteer students who are responsible for answering tourists' confusion, so that tourists can have a deeper understanding of the deeds of young Mao Zedong.

The old campus still has a teaching function, so there are many elementary school students attending classes during the day. Tourists should remember to travel in a civilized manner and not to make loud noises.
