Yuelu Mountain-Institutional Reviews

Mount Yuelu is the last peak of the seventy-two peaks of Nanyue Heng Mountain, with a sea wave of 300.8 meters. In the old chronicle "Nanyue Ji", it is recorded that "800 miles around Nanyue, the Hui Yan is the head, and the Yuelu is the foot", hence the name. As a natural landscape, although Yuelu Mountain is not excellent, it is a city by the river, and there have been many people and inkmen visiting since ancient times, and a large number of cultural attractions have been preserved: including Yuelu Academy (belonging to Hunan University), Aiwan Pavilion, Lushan Temple, Yunlu Palace, Yuwang Monument, the former site of Xinmin Society and so on. Compared with the now famous Orange Island, Yuelu Mountain actually served as a natural landscape symbol of the ancient city of Changsha for a long time in the past.

Love Evening Pavilion

Du Mu, a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty, said that "stop and sit in love with the maple forest in the evening, and the frost leaves are red in February flowers" after thousands of years without changing color, showing the beauty of ancient Chinese poetry. Yuelu Mountain is a famous place to enjoy maple trees, and Beijing Xiangshan, Nanjing Qixia Mountain, Suzhou Tianping Mountain is equally famous, tourists can also feel the charm of the poem in the Aiwan Pavilion. However, Aiwan Pavilion was not named because Du Mu wrote poems here, but Bi Yuan, the governor of Huguang in the Qing Dynasty, changed the name of the Red Leaf Pavilion to "Mountain Travel". This Aiwan Pavilion, which was built in the 57th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1792), is known as the four famous pavilions in China together with the Drunken Weng Pavilion (1046) in Chuxian County, Anhui Province, the Huxin Pavilion (1552) in West Lake in Hangzhou, and the Taoran Pavilion (1695) in Taoranting Park in Beijing. Since ancient times, the pavilion has been restored several times. After the liberation, Mao Zedong was invited by Li Da, the president of Hunan University at the time, to mention the name of the book pavilion. Because Mao Zedong often gathered with his friends in his youth, talked about the current situation, and gave directions, he also happily accepted the request. Later, Changsha City and Kagoshima City of Japan became sister cities, and Aiwantei was reproduced in Kagoshima City as a symbol of the ancient city of Changsha, which shows its historical status.

There are many tourists visiting Aiwan Pavilion, so it is recommended that readers feel the historical atmosphere. After all, in the late autumn period, "see the mountains red all over, the forests are dyed", and the scenery is not limited to the Aiwan Pavilion.

Lushan Temple

Lushan Temple, also known as "Yuelu Temple", "Huiguang Temple", "Luyuan", "Wanshou Temple", was founded by the disciple of Dunhuang Bodhisattva Lifa Chong in the first four years of Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty (268 AD), and is the earliest temple of Buddhism in Hunan Province. During the Wanli period, in order to promote the merits of Lushan Temple, Mingshenzong gave the name Wanshou Temple. At the beginning of the Republic of China, the temple was changed back to its original name.

The temple is surrounded by Qingfeng Gorge, White Crane Spring and other scenic spots, and has the reputation of "the first famous spot in the Han and Wei dynasties, and the first dojo in Huxiang". In the history of more than 1,700 years, the temple has been destroyed six times, the most recent of which was destroyed by the Japanese army, and only the mountain gate and the Tibetan scripture pavilion have survived. Now the temple has long been repaired, there are mountain gates, Maitreya halls, Daxiong treasure halls, Guanyin Pavilion, Zhai Hall and other buildings.

It is worth noting that one of the most precious cultural relics of Lushan Temple, the Lushan Temple tablet written and written by Li Yong, a great calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty, is a famous Tang tablet in China, which has a great influence on the calligraphy of later generations. For example, Su Shi in the Song Dynasty, Mi Fu will attack the base law slightly, Ming Dong Qichang praised its "right army such as a dragon, Beihai such as an elephant". The stele of Lushan Temple was moved to the Yuelu Academy in the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, and the existing pavilion was protected, but because the time was too old, the weathering problem of the stele was obvious, and it was partially broken.

Yunlu Palace

Yunlu Palace was built in the 14th year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1478 AD), and it is the 23rd cave of Taoism. Yunlu Palace has been destroyed several times, most recently during the Cultural Revolution. Nowadays, the main body of Yunlu Palace is a three-entry courtyard composed of Lu Zu Palace, Patriarch Hall and Sanqing Palace, and the surrounding ancient trees are towering to the sky, which is very suitable for tourists to enjoy tea and rest.

Yunlu Palace, which is located in the top of Yuelu Mountain, has a very famous Wangxiang Pavilion, and tourists can enjoy the magnificent scenery of "going straight to Yunlu 3,000 zhang, and coming to see Changsha millions".

Ropeway excursions

For those who want to be "lazy", consider taking the ropeway up the mountain. Yuelu Mountain has the East Gate and the South Gate, and if you go up the mountain from the East Gate, there are basically no scenic spots, so it is a good choice to take the ropeway that starts at the East Gate. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of Yuelu Mountain while riding the ropeway. It should be noted that the horizontal distance of the ropeway is more than 1,100 meters, and it takes at least 25 minutes to complete the journey, and because of its slightly "simple" open design, the ropeway journey is quite a challenge for many tourists.
