Orange Island - Agency Reviews

Orange Island is a small island located in the center of the Xiangjiang River, which was once named for its abundance of oranges. Since ancient times, Orange Island has been a famous spot, in winter, the snow is white and the river sky is completely colored, and the beautiful scenery is listed as one of the eight views of Xiaoxiang "Jiangtian twilight snow". Shen Kuo of the Song Dynasty recorded this in "Mengxi Brush Talk, Calligraphy and Painting". Mao Zedong once wrote "Qinyuan Spring, Changsha", which made him even more famous. In 2004, the Changsha Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government carried out an engineering renovation of Orange Island, which was presented to the world with a new look more than four years later. Since then, Orange Island has gradually become an undisputed landmark in Changsha.

Nowadays, the more famous attractions in Orange Island include Mao Zedong's Youth Art Sculpture, Wentiantai, Orange Island Fireworks, 100-meter Fountain and so on. Since tourists can only go to the island in the middle of the island, it is recommended that tourists take a 20 yuan sightseeing bus to reach the southernmost point, and then slowly walk north to visit the scenic spots.

Mao Zedong Youth Art Sculpture

The Mao Zedong Youth Art Sculpture stands at the head of Orange Island and is based on the image of Mao Zedong in his youth in 1925. With a height of 32 meters, a length of 83 meters and a width of 41 meters, the sculpture is the largest landscape project on Orange Island. Visitors who arrive here can feel the shock of this sculpture and it attracts the attention of tourists. In many promotional videos and photos introducing Changsha, this sculpture has a strong sense of existence. It's no surprise that Orange Island has become a new landmark in Changsha.

In addition, the sculpture also echoes Mao Zedong's expression here in 1925 "ask the vast earth, who is the master of the ups and downs", which has a special significance.

Ask the rooftop

The rooftop is the head of Orange Island, the southernmost point of the island, in front of the sculpture of Mao Zedong's youth. In 1913~1918, Mao Zedong in his youth often swam across the Xiangjiang River with his classmates to Orange Island to discuss the way to change China. The establishment of the Tiantai is based on this allusion.

Purely from the perspective of tour experience, being on the rooftop, it is like driving on the huge flagship of the Xiangjiang River, the breeze is refreshing, fast and fast.

Orange Island fireworks

The Orange Island Fireworks used to be a fireworks display every Saturday night from May 1 to October 31 (New Year's Day, Chinese New Year's Eve and Lantern Festival), but the Saturday fireworks show has been cancelled and only on selected holidays. Of course, tourists can't get the best viewing experience on the island, so it is recommended to go to Xiangjiang Middle Road, Xiaoxiang Middle Road, Du Fujiang Pavilion, Siyang Fangzun Square and other Xiangjiang River to watch.
