Lu Teacher Coffee opened as early as 2006 and has been in existence for 12 years, making it one of the few early boutique cafes in Wuhan. The owner, a music teacher, changed careers because of his love of coffee, and used his nickname "Mr. Lu" as the name of the café.
Mr. Lu is a veteran figure in the specialty coffee circle in Wuhan, and he started coffee training soon after the business, and now many baristas in Wuhan are under the command of Mr. Lu. There are three types of food in the store: single item coffee, brewed coffee, and desserts. Mr. Lu's café specializes in single product coffee, the coffee beans are self-roasted, and the standard is very high, and the beans in many cafes in Wuhan are roasted by Mr. Lu. Affordable prices are another feature of the store's single-origin coffees. Since its opening, the price has not fluctuated much, and a single cup is only about 30 yuan. Siphon coffee is Mr. Lu's proud work, the coffee extracted through the siphon pot has a richer and bitter taste than hand-poured, but the aftertaste is also more obvious than hand-poured coffee. The store also offers milk coffee and cakes, and the taste is not to fault.
Compared to many new cafes, Mr. Lu's two-storey store on Taipei Road is too old. After the renovation of the old store in mid-2018, the façade is simple, the interior decoration is a little simple, the plants and furnishings are more casual, and the cups, tables and chairs are not complete. Such a café with a slightly inferior decoration has the main advantages of coffee taste and the personality of the owner. Mr. Lu is a warm and talkative person, and likes to discuss coffee knowledge and life experience with guests. In addition to the old store on Taipei Road, Mr. Lu has a Lanxiu branch in the area of Zhongbei Road, except for the different baristas, the coffee beans are the same as the old store, so the taste is similar, and there is no difference between the two. But if you want to see Mr. Lu's demeanor, it is recommended to go to the old store on Taipei Road.
