Huguang Guild Hall - Institutional Reviews

Huguang Hall is the general name of the ancient buildings of the early Qing Dynasty such as Yuwang Palace, Guangdong Office, Qi'an Office, etc., which was built in 1759 (the 24th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty) and expanded in 1846 (the 26th year of Daoguang). The Huguang Guild Hall is a historical witness of Chongqing's commercial prosperity during the Qing Dynasty, and an important symbol of Chongqing's immigration, commerce and architectural culture.

Huguang Hall covers an area of 8,561 square meters, and has Yuwang Palace, Qi'an Office, Guangdong Office, Huguang Sichuan Immigration Museum, and Guild Hall Cultural Exhibition. According to historical records, during the Qing Dynasty, the wood used in the main hall and theater of the Huguang Hall was "transported from the north of Chu, and the amount of work invested and the essence of the workmanship were breathtaking." "It should be noted that the Huguang Guild Hall was only rediscovered in the mid-80s of the last century during the second census of cultural relics in Chongqing. At the beginning, the Huguang Guild Hall, which was located in the dilapidated houses of Dongshuimen in Hongxue Lane, was in disrepair and was already devastated. After entering the new century, the Huguang Guild Hall was protected and restored, and some antique buildings were newly built. Today's Huguang Guild Hall has tall yellow walls undulating with the mountain, and the rows of ancient architectural structures in the scenic area are breathtaking.

Yuwang Palace is the first stop of Huguang Guild Hall. Huguang Hall is dedicated to Dayu, so Yuwang Palace occupies a dominant position in the hall, and is the largest building in the park, covering an area of 2,270 square meters. The statue of Dayu in the hall is majestic, and the four words "the master of the world" in front of the statue add a touch of domineering to it. There is a large bell in the hall, and many tourists think it is an amusement and swing the bell wood to knock it, but in fact this is not allowed, it is hereby pointed out.

Located in the southernmost part of the park, the Qi'an Mansion is a guild hall built by immigrants from Huangzhou Mansion in Hubei Province during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, and is the most well-preserved among the three ancient buildings. The gate of the Qi'an Club is obliquely facing the direction of Huangzhou Mansion in Hubei, which not only satisfies the attention of the immigrants of Huangzhou Mansion to feng shui, but also carries the homesickness of the immigrants.

Above the Qi'an Office is the Guangdong Office. The Guangdong Office, also known as Nanhua Palace, was a social organization base established by Cantonese people who lived in Chongqing in those years. The existing main structure is in the shape of a courtyard, and the main building is a theater building, which can accommodate up to 300 people to watch the play. The original hall of the Guangdong Mansion in the Qing Dynasty, the total area is much larger than the current single theater building, and the main hall was demolished after liberation. The four characters "Nanling Guanzhan" on the lintel of the gate indicate that it belongs to Guangdong. It is worth mentioning that because the Guangdong Office is located in the highest southwest corner of the Hubei Guild Hall, the display content is relatively scarce, so the number of visitors to the office is also the least.

There are 4 stages in the hall, in addition to 1 in the Guangdong Gong, there are 2 in the Yuwang Palace and 1 in the Qi'an Gong. The carvings on the stage are all derived from the stories of the characters and landscapes, flowers and birds in "Journey to the West", "The Legend of the West Chamber", "Fengshen Bang" and "Twenty-four Filial Pieties".

Huguang Fill Sichuan Immigration Museum is located at the gate, a detailed account of the Qing Dynasty period Hubei, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangxi and other more than a dozen provinces residents moved into Sichuan history, which political background, economic factors and into Shu routes are listed one by one, it is recommended that tourists first visit the Huguang Fill Sichuan Immigration Museum and then visit the ancient halls, I believe there will be a deeper understanding.

On the fourteenth day of the first lunar month every year, the Huguang Hall will also hold the Yuwang Temple Fair, and many festivals such as the Immigrant Cultural Festival and the Folk Art Festival are also not a problem, and the popularity will be hot. Because of the special historical significance of the Huguang Guild Hall, there will be traditional weddings held here on auspicious days or holidays of the zodiac.
