Dabao'en Temple Ruins Park is located outside the Zhonghua Gate outside the Qinhuai River, the whole park covers an area of about 200 acres, and now the scenic spot is rebuilt on the basis of the original site and opened to the public in recent years.
Da Bao En Temple was established in the Ming Dynasty, once all the specifications of the temple were built in full accordance with the standards of the imperial palace, the whole temple is large-scale, there are more than 30 palaces, 148 monasteries, 118 corridor rooms, 38 scripture rooms. And really belong to the past of the Great Bao'en Temple, only the ruins remain, including the ruins of the Perfume Bridge, the ruins of the Tianwang Palace, the ruins of the oil depot, the ruins of the platform, the ruins of the main hall, the ruins of the Garan Temple, etc., tourists can also get a glimpse of the glory of the temple at that time, it is the most well-preserved temple ruins in China.
The glazed pagoda is the most core building of the Great Bao'en Temple, the whole body of the tower is decorated with glazed components, the whole building is made of different shapes, different colors and ornaments of glazed components mortise and tenon, the body of the tower is crystal clear, but unfortunately turned into a pile of rubble in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period. The glazed pagoda arch that has been unveiled in "National Treasure" is restored with a set of spare glazed pagodas of Dabao'en Temple in the Ming Dynasty, from which you can also see the unique Dharma decoration of Tibetan Buddhist Tantra and the beauty of the glaze at that time. The original set of arches has been moved to the Nanjing Museum, and the Dabao'en Temple is exhibited as a replica. Now the glazed pagoda is rebuilt, borrowed from the glazed pagoda body of the original tower, using modern building technology, the tower body is all surrounded by glass, it is also nine layers and eight sides, the lights are lit up at night, the pagoda can feel its magnificence on the bank of the Qinhuai River.
Today's Dabao'en Temple Ruins Park is rebuilt on the original site. The rebuilt Da Bao En Temple is different from ordinary temples, using technology, lighting, pictures, interactive experiences and other ways to allow visitors to feel the meaning of Buddhism. There are many immersive short films in the heritage park, such as 3D animation, real-life interpretation, etc., and the exhibition hall presents the grand scene of Buddhism in Jiankang City during the Southern Dynasties. There are also many interactive activities, such as hanfu experience, blessing and wishing.
As a temple site in a non-traditional sense, Dabao'en Temple uses the most dazzling technology display and grand scene layout, which can allow visitors to feel the pure world of Buddhism as if they were there, and the blank scene also has a shocking feeling. However, the ticket price of 80 yuan is considered a high-priced ticket in Nanjing's attractions, and the low flow of people may be the key point for some tourists who do not like crowds to choose attractions. Although Dabao'en Temple is also a scenic spot on the bank of the Qinhuai River, it is much cleaner than the Confucius Temple. Interested visitors can also enjoy the glazed pagoda after the tour is lit up at night.
