The Brew - Merchant Reviews

One of the first restaurants in Shanghai and the country to have a local brewed beer, it is quite famous in the circle of craft beer lovers, but for the average consumer, The Brew will be overshadowed by the restaurant of the same brand next to it. The reason for this is that the brand is divided into three parts: The Cook, The Meat and The Brew, all of which are located on the first floor of the Kerry Centre, but are positioned independently of each other. Many friends on the Internet confuse The Brew with the other two.

Similar to most craft beer bars, The Brew retains its traditional American pub style with brown wood walls and high stools that surround the bar; The difference is that the designer used shiny elements such as metal patches and white hanging walls in many places, adding a bit of modernity. In particular, a circle of glass wine glasses hangs above the bar in the visual center of the restaurant, which is quite imposing and has a brightening effect. Every night at eight or nine o'clock on the stage, foreign musicians will sing, and the songs are naturally mainly jazz and country common in beer bars, but occasionally a few Chinese and even Cantonese songs are interspersed. It is worth mentioning that her Ukrainian female lead singer is well-known to many guests, and the title of "Kerry City Di Lieba" is a common joke among drinking friends.

The Brew offers special edition beers on some days, but on weekdays it always has about eight types of alcohol, covering mainstream craft beer categories such as lager, IPA, and porter (the restaurant also has a "Rebec cider", but it is not included in this introduction considering that the Cider category is not usually considered beer). The Brew combines Red Ales, which accentuates acidity, with IPA, which emphasizes hops, to create what is known as "Indian Red Beer". This wine has a smooth throat, no malt roasting or bitterness, and a tempered acidity that reduces the taste, making it a session beer suitable for beginners. It is worth mentioning that "Indian Red Beer" has a strong and unique aftertaste, and it is also a must-see part of tasting the bitterness in your mouth after drinking a glass. Another type of wheat aler, known as "Ant White Beer", is made in the traditional Belgian way, and the alcohol content is also not high, but it has a rich aroma and rich taste. For Chinese people, Belgian wheat beer is one of the most common beer styles in the domestic craft beer circle because of its familiar style, short fermentation cycle and few post-fermentation processes. Those who are slightly familiar with beer will know that Hoegarrden, which has been extremely successful in China, falls into this style, but lost much of its flavor in order to appeal to the general public when it received a capital injection from Budweiser in 1985. For this kind of beer that pays attention to freshness, many local wheat beers in China are not at all below the level of bottled wines such as Fujia. Grab an afternoon with a wheat beer at The Brew and you'll probably fall in love with the refreshing and varied flavours.
