Lugouqiao Cultural Tourism Zone-Institutional Review

Lugouqiao Cultural Tourism Zone is located on the bank of the Yongding River in Fengtai District, Beijing, and its main attractions include Lugou Bridge, Wanping City, Stone Drum Garden and the Memorial Hall of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Lugou Bridge, also known as Lugou Bridge, one of the eight scenic spots of Yanjing, was also known as "Marco Polo Bridge" because it was praised by the Venetian traveler Marco Polo in the travelogue of the same name. At the same time, it is also the place where the Japanese imperialists launched a full-scale war of aggression against China, and the first shot of the all-out war of resistance against Japanese aggression was fired by the Chinese-national-military-army (historically known as the "Lugou Bridge Incident"/"77 Incident"). Therefore, the Lugouqiao Cultural Tourism Zone carries the dual significance of scenery and history, and is unique among the attractions in Beijing. With a length of 266.5 meters and a width of 7.5 meters, Lugou Bridge is the longest ancient stone bridge in North China. There are 10 piers and 11 bridge holes under the Lugou Bridge, which are connected to key parts by silver ingots and iron tenons. It is worth mentioning that the lower part of the pier adopts a ship-shaped design, and the waterfront side is a pointed bow, which can effectively slow down the impact and erosion of the water flow, which shows the scientific nature contained in traditional Chinese architecture. However, what really makes Lugou Bridge famous is the carving art on the bridge, and the phrase "Lions of Lugou Bridge - Countless" refers to the hundreds of lion stone carvings on Lugou Bridge. The exact number of stone lions on the Lugou Bridge has been a matter of debate, but the digitized archives of the Lugou Bridge History Museum show that there are 501 stone lions, 281 pillars, 279 railings, 4 stone monuments, 4 Huabiao and 2 stone statues on the bridge. These 501 stone lions vary in size, demeanor, shape, and posture, and even are male and female. Some lion cubs hide in the arms of the lioness, some lion cubs crouch on the back of the big lion, some lions swallow hydrangeas, and some lions simply look into the distance by themselves, showing their arrogance. Each stone lion is very realistic and interesting, and a cursory view of these hundreds of lions is enough to pay for the ticket price. There is also a stone tablet placed on both sides of the Lugou Bridge, one records the deeds of rebuilding the Lugou Bridge in 1689 during the Kangxi period, and the other is the imperial book of the Qianlong Emperor "Lugou Xiaoyue". In fact, as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yanjing, Lugou Bridge has always been an excellent place to admire the moon. Although the Lugou Bridge is only open to the public during the daytime during the regular hours, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Lugou Bridge will be open for visitors to enjoy the moon at night, so if you are visiting Beijing during this time, you must not miss it. Wanping City in the east of Lugou Bridge was built in the Ming Chongzhen period, as the acropolis on the west side of the capital, Wanping City is not large. In 1937, the Japanese army bombarded Wanping City, and the "77 Incident" broke out. A memorial hall of the Anti-Japanese War has been built in Wanping City, covering an area of about 35,000 square meters, with a collection of about 25,000 pieces of cultural relics, including 117 pieces (sets) of first-class products. The venue shows the great history of the Chinese people's War of Resistance in a multi-dimensional and comprehensive way through things, photos, oil paintings, sculptures, multimedia and other means, adding a lot of heavy and solemn colors to the Lugouqiao Cultural Tourism Zone. Opening hours: April-October: 7:00-20:00 November-March: 7:00-18:00
