The U.S. Collaborative Education System is the world's largest private education system, with more than 2,600 schools operating around the world, most of which are located in the United States. In China, the International School of Hong Kong (HKIS) and the Concordia School of Shanghai (CISS) are members of the Concord Education System.
Founded in 2001, Shenzhen Xicheng Synergy International School (BCIS) is a model school in South China, located in the exotic Xicheng villa area in a high-end community in Bao'an District. In April 2016, BCIS was accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC).
BCIS currently covers two stages: primary school and junior high school, and there are also pre-school preparatory classes. BCIS adopts the current teaching standards for primary and secondary schools in the United States, the Common Core Standards (CCSS), and the textbooks and teaching resources selected are basically the same as those of primary and secondary schools in the United States. In terms of mathematics, which China attaches great importance to, the United States and Singapore are used to complement each other, and the Chinese textbooks are independently developed school-based curricula, with reference to Chinese textbooks from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and other places.
For students with different levels of academic ability, BCIS divides the class into Advanced Classroom (AP) and Standard Classroom (AS) according to the American classification method. If you want to progress from AS to AP, you need to pass not only the MAP exam, but also the academic and behavioral standards. On weekends, BCIS also offers Saturday classes where students can choose one session of academic classes and one session of sports activities with the aim of improving students' English and athletic skills.
Pure American education is a major feature of BCIS, which is reflected in the formation of a national team of teachers in the United States, more than 80% of the teachers are directly selected from the United States, and all of them are American registered teachers with a bachelor's degree or above. The American Cultural Festival is a regular part of BCIS students' on-campus recreational life, showcasing the achievements of STEM education in addition to drama performances and food sharing.
In terms of pathways, BCIS provides a wide range of options. After graduating from BCIS, students can still apply to any domestic public high school, and if they wish, BCIS can assist students in applying for admission to Hong Kong Synergy International School and high schools in English-speaking countries. In addition, students also have the opportunity to apply for admission to other schools within the Global Collaboration System.
