SZCE, a prestigious school in Shenzhen outside the four major international departments, is not only a well-deserved first in the local international school world, but also a well-known name among Chinese A-level schools. There is a saying about SZCE: the number of Oxbridge offers they receive each year is comparable to the total number of Oxbridge offers received by other schools across the country that year.

The quality and quantity of accreditation by international organizations is an important dimension for examining international schools. SJSE is a member school of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is internationally recognized for its quality. CIS is considered to be the most influential and authoritative international school accreditation body in the world. As the first full-time international high school in Shenzhen officially authorized by the Cambridge University Examinations (CIE), SZSE is qualified to provide IGCSE and Pre-University A Level courses in the UK. SZSE is a registered examination centre of the Cambridge University Examinations, where students can sit for IGCSE and A Level examinations. In addition, in 2016, SZSE added AP courses, becoming an AP course center authorized by the College Board, allowing SZSE students to have more choices outside of UK universities.

At present, there are 4 grades, namely the first and second years (G1 and G2) of IGCSE International High School, and the first and second years of A Level University Preparation (A1 and A2), with the number of students in each class being controlled within 26. Compared with the rising tuition, the hardware conditions of SZSE do not match, and as an international high school, it is even a little "cold". The school is located in Shui Wai Village, a typical urban village with cramped roads, mixed people, and a variety of small restaurants to enrich students' daily meals, and out of disgust with the poor dormitory, many students choose to live in rented apartments off campus.

SZSE is jokingly known as the "self-study college", and in many cases students are required to conduct self-study. The reasons for this are, firstly, the high requirements of international education for students' independent learning ability, and the other is that there is a "shortage" of teachers in SZSE to a certain extent.
