Shenzhen International Department of Foreign Chinese School - Institutional Review

Located next to CITIC Mangrove Bay, the International Department of Shenzhen International School of Foreign Chinese is the first international school invested and built by the Shenzhen Municipal Government. Different from the international AP class of the Shenzhen Foreign Language Headquarters, SWIS provides K12 international education from kindergarten to high school for the children of foreigners and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan working in Shenzhen.

Unlike most international schools that rent in villas or office buildings, SWIS's luxury gas is now on the coordinates. In the high-priced land of Shenzhen Bay, SWIS occupies 24,000 square meters, from the teaching building to the teaching facilities are first-class, and its hardware conditions are at the top level in the existing international school echelon in Shenzhen, including 2 full-size football fields, multi-functional gymnasiums, gymnasiums, constant temperature swimming pools, open-air basketball courts, dance studios, small theaters and other cultural and sports facilities.

Founded in 2011, SWIS has received three accreditations from the International Baccalaureate (IB) and two international accreditations from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Alliance for Schools and Colleges Education (WASC) in just a few years. In 2015, SWIS became an IB World School certified by international organizations, and has the qualification to provide PYP, MYP, DP coherent IB curriculum system. SWIS is one of only two international schools in Shenzhen that offer a coherent IB programme. The IB program is a global curriculum and is currently the most challenging international curriculum system, corresponding to the IB program has the highest degree of diploma recognition, and international students can use the IBDP results to apply to universities around the world.

The IB curriculum is transdisciplinary in nature and is mainly characterized by inquiry, which also runs through the three stages of learning at SWIS. The PYP program allows students to make connections across disciplines through inquiry projects; The DP project requires students to choose from six major research groups to conduct research. At SWIS, the class size is limited to about 20 students, except for music, physical education, art and Chinese classes, where specialist teachers teach all other subject areas, and each class is equipped with a Chinese class teacher.

In China, international teachers have always been chaotic, and it is not uncommon for "black foreign teachers" who do not have teaching qualifications to be common. In order to avoid such a situation, SWIS implements a strict review system for foreign teachers, and each foreign teacher hired is guaranteed to have the qualifications of teachers in their home country and have a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience. In terms of teacher evaluation, SWIS has its own evaluation system, and the teacher evaluation system of the United States is introduced to evaluate teachers.

In terms of enrollment policy, SWIS only recruits foreign or Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, and requires at least one of the applicant's parents to be a foreign or Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan resident.

As of the spring of 2018, there are no graduates of SWIS, but with its name as a "public international school" and its above-standard software and hardware, its achievements are worth a positive imagination.
