Shenzhen Keaisai International School - Institutional Reviews

Founded in 2001, the International School of Science and Technology in Nanshan is one of the 36 schools established by the Science and Technology Education Group in the world, and is one of the earliest schools for international children in Shenzhen. QSI has three campuses, namely Shekou Main Campus, Middle School Campus and Nanshan Campus in TCL International E City, where students from more than 50 countries and regions study and live.

As a long-established international school in Shenzhen, QSI has many international accreditations. In addition to being an accredited primary and secondary school member of the Middle School Association (MSA) and a member of the Association of Overseas Schools in East Asia (EARCOS), QSI is also an IB World School and is qualified to offer the IBDP curriculum. QSI currently has a total of 172 full-time teachers from more than a dozen countries around the world, of which 125 teachers are from North America. All teachers hold teaching certificates from their home countries, and more than half of them have a master's degree or higher.

QSI Nanshan Campus mainly serves students aged 2-9 years, who move to the main campus after the age of 9 and study in the middle school campus between the ages of 14 and 18. At QSI, English is the primary language of instruction, while Chinese is taught to students as a foreign language. The timetable for elementary and junior high school students lasts from 8:30 to 16:00, including a lunch break and time for after-school activities. Outside of class, QSI offers a vibrant after-school program. In addition to a diverse arts and humanities club, as a member of the Association of Chinese and Mongolian International Schools (ACAMIS), QSI regularly competes with other member schools and participates in sports competitions such as basketball, volleyball, football, rugby, golf, tennis, track and field, etc.

QSI has a curriculum development team of teachers from QSI schools around the world, who regularly revise existing curricula and develop new curricula at a global pace. In terms of teaching, QSI is aligned with the United States, and the teaching objectives are based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). For elementary school students who have a strong interest in mathematics, QSI will provide them with secondary school mathematics textbooks in advance to ensure that the curriculum is challenging. English is the language of instruction at QSI, which is highly valued by the school, and there are additional teachers to guide students in their English language learning. For students who are not native English speakers in the lower grades, the school has designed an IE (Intensive English Course). In addition, QSI students have physical education and art classes 2 or 3 times a week. After the age of 14, students can choose between the AP/IB system.
