Shenzhen Nanshan International School - Institutional Reviews

Founded in 2002 by the Provincial Government of New Brunswick and the Government of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Shenzhen Nanshan International School (ISNS) was formerly known as the International Department of Shenzhen Nanshan International School, and was renamed Shenzhen Nanshan International School in 2010. ISNS has been established for many years and has already obtained NEASC-CAISA accreditation, International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) accreditation, and Association of China-Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) accreditation.

In the past, ISNS did not have an independent campus, but shared a campus with the Sino-Canadian school, which had many inconveniences in teaching and activities. In 2016, the new campus of ISNS was officially completed and put into use, and the school site is located at the foot of Tanglang Mountain, and the hardware conditions have been greatly improved. The school is equipped with sports facilities such as an open-air athletic field, an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium and a gymnasium, as well as multimedia classrooms, dance studios, rehearsal studios, visual arts classrooms, photography darkrooms and exhibition galleries.

IBDP, AP and A Level are the three mainstream international high school courses in the world, and IBDP is generally regarded as the most difficult and valuable one. ISNS and SWIS are the only two schools in Shenzhen that implement the IB curriculum in primary, middle and high school levels, and are able to provide a challenging IB curriculum to all students. Within the framework of the IB curriculum, the English-based Canadian (New Brunswick) curriculum is also included in the curriculum of ISNS students. Therefore, after studying at ISNS, students can obtain two diplomas, one is the Canadian high school diploma and the other is the IB international diploma, and students are free to use the two diplomas to apply for overseas universities.

ISNS covers the whole school period, integrating pre-school, primary school, middle school and high school. In terms of class size, ISNS insists on small class size, with no more than 24 students per class in Grade 2 and above, 20 students per class in Grade 1, and 18 students per class in the preschool stage. All of ISNS's faculty have bachelor's or master's degrees in education, and most are from both the United States and Canada.

There is no nationality limit to enrollment in the preschool stage of ISNS, as long as you meet the age requirements; Grades 1 to 12 accept students from countries and regions other than Chinese mainland. Many parents believe that the degree of internationalization of ISNS is not high, which is reflected in the high proportion of Chinese students in the school, and the rare foreign faces.

Parents should pay special attention to the fact that Nanshan International School is not the same school as Nanshan (Sino-Canada) School, Nanshan International School is located on Longyuan Road and is an international school. Nanshan (Sino-Canada) School is located on Nanguang Road and offers general high school education.
