The old Shanghai restaurant has been stubbornly maintaining the true character of Shanghai for more than 20 years. In the 80s, Lao Dachang was famous for its exquisite Shanghai cuisine, and it was one of the few time-honored restaurants in Shenzhen. Pink back chairs, old-fashioned gramophone, decoration is also a Shanghainese style, opposite the Shanghai Hotel, many elderly people dine here, there is no lack of customers with Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai accents in the air, as if they are in Shanghai.
Compared with the new Jiangsu and Zhejiang restaurants, Lao Dachang's weight is very large, but it is still a lot more streamlined than more than ten years ago. The eel paste is a characteristic of Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine, and the small yellow eel is supplemented with chives, minced garlic and ginger, which is crispy and delicious. Lao Dachang's scallion fried eel paste is fried with boneless yellow eel, which is very flavorful, the meat is delicate and the taste is excellent. It should be noted that there is only one word difference between fried eel paste and fried eel paste, but it is based on shiitake mushrooms, with black skin and yellow flesh, and the shape resembles eel silk after changing the knife, which is actually a vegetarian dish.
Drunken crab, Shanghai smoked fish, and sauced duck are also representative dishes of this gang. Shanghai smoked fish is made to order, the shape is regular and beautiful, reaching the taste of charred on the outside and tender on the inside, the fish skin part is extra burnt, and the taste is very sweet, which is about the same as the sweetness of Wuxi cuisine. The sauce duck method is slightly different from the sauce duck in Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine, the seasoning is sweet, and the duck is not pickled, so the meat will not be very dry. But the dishes are still a lot worse than "exquisite", the dim sum is unsatisfactory, the skin of xiaolongbao is rough and the meat is thick, and it is completely unacceptable to the essentials of Shanghai xiaolongbao, and it is necessary to pay attention to lightning protection.
Lao Dachang has a strong "ancient flavor", and retro feelings and classic local dishes meet here. The service is decent, there is a 10% service charge, and there is no WIFI in the hall.
