In terms of style, Seiko is probably the world's number one watch brand. Seiko Seiko is one of the three major watchmaking companies in Japan, founded in 1881 as Hattori Timepiece Shop and renamed Seikosha in 1892. Seikosha is also the parent company of Epson, a manufacturer of computer printers. For more than half a century, Seiko has won three awards at the Geneva Haute Horlogerie Competition, known as the Oscars of horology: Electronic Watch of the Year 2006 for the E-Ink Watch, Sports Watch of the Year 2010 for the Space Walk, and Small Hand Award for the Grand Seiko in 2014. In an extreme environment test of diver's watches conducted by Japan's National Marine Research Institute, Seiko's Marinemaster 1000M automatic diver's watch continued to function until a depth of 4,299 meters (2.67 miles).
