Recommended model: Porta-Chef 320
In the United States, where the barbecue industry has a long history, Broil King is a relatively young brand, but with excellent product performance and a favorable background of Cadco, one of the largest food equipment manufacturers in North America, Broil King has been recognized by Consumer Reports, with 14 gas grills recommended to consumers, and its barrel ovens and portable grills have been ranked first in Consumer Reports for many times.
Broil King's portable ovens currently have only one Porta-Chef lineup, with a total of three products, but two of them are older, and the only new product is the Porta-Chef 320 gas grill launched in 2018, which ranked first in Consumer Reports' review of portable ovens.
The biggest highlight of the Porta-Chef 320 is the coated cast iron grille, which has been rated excellent by Consumer Reports. Coated cast iron dissipates heat more evenly than popular ceramic-coated steel grilles, so heat transfer is more uniform when grilling meat, and the porcelain coating makes the grating surface easier to clean while also improving rust resistance.
The Porta-Chef 320 has a larger cooking area of 295 square inches in a portable oven, making it easy to handle more than six people, and with a total output of 18,000 BTU, it is second only to Coleman's products in Consumer Reports' preheating performance tests.
The Porta-Chef 320 is also equipped with three main burners, each spaced apart so that they can be used for different cooking tasks without interfering with each other, and an additional grill net inside the lid to handle both the roasting task and the food that has already been baked, which is unmatched by other products. Although the Porta-Chef 320 performs well, it is not equipped with wheels, it is inconvenient to fold, and it can only be connected to a large 20-pound tank of propane, which limits its portability, and foreign users mainly use it in RVs.
