Founded in 2008, Brandon Waddy, founder and chief designer of WARBONNET OUTDOORS (hereinafter referred to as "WARBONNET"), hired American workers and local suppliers to create pure "Made in the USA" outdoor hammocks.
Since WARBONNET's hammocks are manufactured in small batches, the manufacturing process can be monitored in more detail, and the finished products can be strictly inspected, resulting in better quality. However, this also brings a certain inconvenience to the purchase, if the hammock is not in stock, you need to wait 1-2 weeks before it can be shipped.
EACH WARBONNET HAMMOCK IS AVAILABLE IN LIGHTWEIGHT, SINGLE-DECK AND DOUBLE-DECKER TYPES. Lightweight hammocks are generally made of 20D or 40D fabrics, and the weight of the hammock is about 500g. The single-layer and double-layer hammocks are generally made of 40D or 70D fabrics, the difference is that the double-layer hammock is made of two-layer fabric, and the load-bearing capacity is the best, reaching 181kg, while the load-bearing capacity of the single-layer hammock is only 124kg.
At present, WARBONNET sells five hammocks: Blackbird XLC, Eldorado, Original Blackbird, Ridgerunner and Traveler, with prices ranging from 600 to 1500 yuan. The Eldorado and Original Blackbird are narrow and short versions of the Blackbird XLC, the Ridgerunner is WARBONNET's hammock with crossbar, and the Traveler is a lightweight hammock. Among the 5 hammocks, the best ones are the Blackbird XLC and Ridgerunner.
Ranked fifth on outdoorgearlab's list of the best hammocks, the Blackbird XLC received a high rating of 9 out of 10 for durability and protection thanks to its sturdy materials and built-in mosquito net. However, mosquito nets can be a burden for backpackers who don't need mosquito protection, and the double-decker hammock weighs 907g, so it only scored 7 points on weight.
For backpackers who have a habit of sleeping on their side, consider the Ridgerunner hammock. The hammock was named one of the best side sleepers in OutdoorGearlab's 2017 Best Hammocks. During nearly 100 hours of testing, the evaluator changed various lying positions, and the Ridgerunner was able to pass the test with good support. Of course, being too bulky and inconvenient to debug is a weakness of the Ridgerunner, and it often takes longer for the user to set up the parts to achieve the optimal angle.
