Founded in 2003, Lima is one of the first enterprises in the industry to obtain the production qualification of electric motorcycles, and now has 3C certification for all types of electric vehicle manufacturing. However, as a veteran manufacturer, the ambiguity of product positioning in recent years has affected its sales, and the annual sales in 2017 were less than 1 million, which is far behind Emma and Yadea, which often have sales of more than 4 million.
 
The gap in sales has been widened, mainly because it has been focusing on more niche and high-end sports electric motorcycles for a long time. From the leap over Hukou Waterfall in 2010 to the successful challenge of "Asia's No. 1 slope" on the Eshima Bridge in Japan in 2015, excellent performance has always been the selling point of the electric motorcycle.
 
The lightning is the latest sports electric motorcycle series of Lima, and the current official website includes three models: Lightning GT, Lightning 1500DT-5, and Lightning S, among which it is more recommended to choose the Lightning GT and Lightning S. The reason is that these two models are equipped with Mama's patented AMT motor and control system, which can generate nearly 3 times the power of ordinary motors when climbing, and their acceleration ability in the S (sport) gear is about 25% higher than that of other 72V electric motorcycles. While the power is strong, the rear wheel damping system adopts a multi-link structure, which changes from the traditional three-point force to a quadrilateral multi-point balance structure, and the lower center of gravity of the body makes the vehicle more stable at high speeds.
 
However, even with the addition of a power recovery system, the power consumption of the lightning series with a motor power of 1500W is still relatively serious, and the range is less than 60km. For drivers who want to gallop freely on the road, the lightning priced at less than 6,000 yuan is more cost-effective than Yadea E7, Xinri Miku Max and other lithium-ion electric motorcycles advertised as "intelligent", but for users who only regard electric vehicles as a means of transportation, they may wish to consider other models.
 
In order to expand the market, in recent years, Lima has also begun to introduce urban commuter models such as the Mio, Mika, and Box in addition to the traditional sports electric motorcycles. These electric mopeds priced below 4500 yuan are rich in color, small in size, and have a range of about 70km (the theoretical range of the Mika 72V version may exceed 80km), and can be charged every two days under general commuting. The Box, which resembles the Maverick N series, only launched a lead-acid version in 2018, but will continue to release a high-configuration lithium battery version in the future, and the battery capacity, shock absorption and braking system should be upgraded accordingly.
