Toshiba refrigerators are not as beautiful as they seem. In the Japanese market, Toshiba has the fifth market share all year round, accounting for about 10% of the market share, but the white goods business is still losing money year after year. In China, Toshiba has struggled to open up the market, and even though it established a Toshiba refrigerator manufacturing plant in Guangzhou as early as 2005, nearly 95% of its products were sold back to Japan.
In 2016, Midea acquired Toshiba's electrical appliance business, obtained Toshiba's 40-year global license and patents, and took over the manufacturing plants and sales channels in Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. However, this acquisition has not yet brought significant changes to Toshiba refrigerators, and neither brand awareness nor refrigerator technology has improved.
Imported from Japan
Toshiba refrigerators are not imported from Japan. Because Toshiba does not build a refrigerator factory in Japan, most of the Toshiba refrigerators that can be purchased are produced by the manufacturing base in the South China Sea. Most of the so-called original imports are products that have traveled from China to Japan, or are made in Southeast Asia.
The new Toshiba refrigerators launched in recent years are sold on the official channels of e-commerce, and the after-sales service is also more guaranteed. The official products take the high-end route, which is basically more than 10,000 yuan, and there are no low-end products.
Sterilization technology in full bloom
Various refrigerator brands have launched various suicide bacteria technologies, most of which achieve the same sterilization and deodorization effects through catalytic decomposition or filtration absorption. Among them, Panasonic chose silver ions, Sharp used copper ions, Bosch, Siemens, and Midea used platinum, Hitachi chose acidified filters, and Haier used silicate, which is difficult to judge the sterilization effect, but the cost of materials reflects the brand workmanship to a certain extent. Toshiba uses Purenavi photoionic technology, which is more biased towards photocatalytic decomposition.
All kinds of technologies can have obvious air purification effects in the box, and it is advisable to focus on judging whether there is a sterilization system when purchasing a refrigerator, rather than deliberately choosing which sterilization function.
Slim outer wall
The space in the fridge is one of the main constraints before buying. If you have a small space, it is recommended to expand to a higher place and buy a three-door refrigerator. The French multi-door is more inclined to a thick, thin, near-square position. Side-by-side and cross-door refrigerators are more suitable for more spacious placements. It is recommended to plan the location of the cabinet and choose according to the location, and pay attention to leaving enough space for heat dissipation at the rear and sides of the refrigerator.
Toshiba refrigerators mostly use vacuum insulation thin layers, and compared to bulky cyclopentane foam insulation products, Toshiba refrigerators are more like thin and tall people after weight loss. The vacuum design can effectively block heat exchange, and the thermos cup and hot water kettle are all insulated by this principle, and the thickness of the outer wall of vacuum insulation is only 2.6cm, and the same volume can almost reduce the floor area by 40%.
Japanese multi-door refrigerator
Toshiba's flagship model is also customary to adopt a Japanese multi-door design. However, compared to other Japanese brands, Toshiba has moved the two small drawers of ice making and quick cooling to the lower middle, which has a unique appearance and is very recognizable.
Toshiba's zoning pattern adheres to the scheme of cold and hot at the bottom, which is theoretically more scientific than other Japanese products. The most important thing is to move the bottom fruits and vegetables that Panasonic and Hitachi must squat to the middle position, which is more convenient and humane.
In terms of high and new technology, Toshiba has a clear gap with Panasonic and Hitachi, but it is better in terms of small design. For example, a small cleaning opening is reserved under the fruit and vegetable drawer to facilitate the removal of chopped vegetable leaves and soil in the drawer. Use a motorized touch door on the refrigerator room to close it with a simple elbow touch when the door is difficult to open with both hands.
After-sales service
Toshiba refrigerators have a 10-year free compressor replacement service, and you can apply for a return if the whole machine fails within 100 days. Toshiba uses the same after-sales service team as Midea, which is at the first-class level in China.
