Pirelli in China
Pirelli entered China in 2005 and now has three factories in China, two in Yanzhou, Shandong Province and one in Jiaozuo, Henan Province. Pirelli employs nearly 4,000 people in China, with a total production capacity of 14 million passenger car tires and 1.4 million motorcycle tires in 2019. Today, Pirelli's Yanzhou plant is one of Pirelli's most advanced plants in the world, focusing on the production of high-performance tires. An innovation centre using the latest technology is also located in Yanzhou Huaqin Industrial Park, close to Pirelli's existing Yanzhou factory. This will further strengthen Pirelli's presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pirelli's continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region is driven by its extensive participation in regional events. In addition to Formula 1, Pirelli has participated in the Blancpain GT Series, the Ferrari Challenge, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, as well as the China Endurance Championship and the China Rally Championship.
The Pirelli plant in China continues to carry out digital transformation based on intelligent and flexible production, and promotes the concept of sustainable development with technological innovation. In 2020, Pirelli's Yanzhou plant was selected as a national "Green Factory" for its strict requirements for sustainable development throughout the life cycle of tires, and in 2021, it was rated as an A-level enterprise by the local government for its heavy pollution weather performance.
In the next step, Pirelli will continue to deepen cooperation with Huaqin Group to invest in upgrading projects such as Jining's high-performance radial car tire production line, and bring the world's highest level of Industry 4.0 intelligent tire production technology to Shandong.
