YUNNAN ENERGY INVESTMENT CO., LTD CO., LTD), formerly known as Yunnan Salt Chemical Co., Ltd., was established on July 25, 2002, on the basis of Yunnan Salt Industry Corporation, Yunnan Textile Group Co., Ltd. as the main sponsor, and Yunnan Nonferrous Geology and Mining Co., Ltd., Yunnan Chuangxin Investment Management Co., Ltd., Yunnan State-owned Assets Management Co., Ltd., Yunnan Development and Investment Co., Ltd., China Salt Industry Corporation, and Anning Industrial Corporation.

In June 2003, Yunnan Province implemented the integration of the chemical industry, and Yunnan Textile Group Co., Ltd. was incorporated into Yuntianhua Group Co., Ltd., and Yuntianhua Group became the controlling shareholder of the company. 

In June 2006, the company made an initial public offering of 70 million A ordinary shares and was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with the stock abbreviation "Yunnan Salinization" and the stock code "002053". 

In October 2015, after the company issued shares to Yunnan Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd., the only specific object, Yunnan Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. became the controlling shareholder of the company, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Yunnan Province remained the actual controller of the company. 

In May 2016, the company completed a major asset restructuring and replaced the assets related to the chlor-alkali chemical business with the natural gas assets of Yunnan Energy Investment Group, forming a new pattern of "salt and natural gas" dual main business development. 

On August 11, 2016, the name of the company was changed from "Yunnan Salt Chemical Co., Ltd." to "Yunnan Energy Investment Co., Ltd."; On August 16, 2016, the company's securities abbreviation was changed to "Yunnan Energy Investment". 

The company is composed of 4 production units (Kunming Salt Mine, Yipinglang Salt Mine, Qiaohou Salt Mine, Pu'er Salt Branch), 1 wholly-owned subsidiary (Yunnan Energy Investment Natural Gas Industry Development Co., Ltd.), 5 shareholding subsidiaries (Mengla Tianmeng Foreign Economic and Trade Co., Ltd., Yunnan Sifang Chemical Co., Ltd., Yunnan Yuntianhua United Business Co., Ltd., Yunnan Jutong Industrial Co., Ltd., Yunnan Yuntianhua Group Finance Co., Ltd.) and 14 marketing branches and 13 natural gas branch companies throughout the province. The enterprise with the dual main business development of "salt + natural gas" is the only designated salt production enterprise in Yunnan Province authorized by the state and the only enterprise authorized by the Yunnan Provincial Government to operate qualified iodized salt, which undertakes the sacred duty of popularizing qualified iodized salt, eliminating the harm of iodine deficiency and improving the quality of the nation, and is responsible for the development and construction of the middle and lower reaches of the natural gas feeder pipeline network and the integration and expansion of the terminal market. 

The company's business scope includes the production and sales of edible salt, industrial salt, daily chemical salt, miscanthus nitrate and other products, as well as the construction and operation of natural gas pipeline network. Since 2003, the company has passed the certification of ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and ISO10012 systems.
